Buyout market

not too concerned with Drummond. Basically a glorified version of Javale Mcgee who thinks of himself as the modern era Olajuwon everytime he touches the ball. his low basketball IQ is only gonna hurt the Lakers in the playoffs

Drummond is a good player. He's an all-star and he will make the Lakers better.

Imagine where the Jazz might be at, if some of the buyout free agents had fallen our way. Take our roster, but mix in Andre Drummond, LaMarcus Aldridge and Austin Rivers.

We'd be the favorites. Oh well, I guess we'll have to go in and beat everybody as underdogs. More than that way.

Drummond would never have sniffed an all star honor if he was in the Western Conference. Half of the Eastern all-stars for the last 20 years should have an asterisk.

All 3 of those dudes make the Jazz worse.

Favors/Drummond is probably a wash, but you give the advantage to Favors because of familiarity.

Niang is better than LMA this year.

*Im not going to respond to the Austin Rivers one*

Nah, he's probably going to help the Lakers. Lebron is going to make sure Drummond limits his freelance plays and Vogel is a very good defensive coach. It will probably be a good addition for the Lakers. Drummond is highly overrated by casuals who look at stats, but he can definitely help a team if he's playing within himself.

Still remember that year when Derozan was named the All-star starter in the East then next year when he moved West, he couldn't even make the reserve list.

It's a joke they still have equal number of all stars between two conferences even though the league acknowledge the talent disparity themselves by making it the captain's pick as opposed to the traditional East vs West format cuz everyone knew that the East would just get destroyed.

Preach brother!

A lot of you are overthinking this. Drummond gives LAL an option that they didn’t have. For free, basically. They’re better now.
He gets a lot of **** but he’s a huge human who can do some good basketball things.

If Drummond cuts the bull **** from his game he will be helpful to the Lakers. If I was them I'd have gone for Dieng because he does the role player things and they need a role player. If Drummond sticks to the role player things he will do well. Everyone hates when he tries the playmaking and post stuff but he's not had the best teammates of all time so he's likely always been needed to play a little outside of his ideal role. I think he took it to a bit of an extreme but oh well.

This guy sucks up rebounds. He grabs 26% of all rebounds and 15% of all offensive rebounds. Our weapon is Rudy contesting shots. The problem here is that if Rudy is contesting shots, a miss means a Drummond put-back. He probably gets a higher ORB% against us because of that and because we have nobody else to clean the defensive glass if Rudy challenges.

If Rudy was any good he'd just catch the shots instead of blocking them. If I was coach I'd tell him to do that instead. Wake up Quin!

If he figures out on how to be a proper role player, he will definitely help the Lakers. But it’s gonna take him quite some time. May be a longer process than Conley. Especially considering Lakers won't be at its full strength until late April or even early May, Drummond will have a lot of carrying to do. It could very well be Pistons/Cavs 2.0 for him until Lebron/AD comes back.

The bigger joke is how much importance we place on a mid-season award

Maybe... but a super simplified role is easier to adjust to... Drummond needs to rebound, set screens, and take up space on defense. He needs to do an impression of Dwight last year. He isn't the defender or energy guy Dwight is but he can do the boardwork and just eliminate some of the BS.

We will see but its nice for the Lakers to at least fill some playing time without it costing a damn thing.

It's always "if" with Drummond. If he would stop posting up. If he would stop trying to play make. If he would just focus only on rebounding and boxing out. The reality is he does post up, he does try to play point guard, and he gets his own rebounds without helping his teammates. There's no evidence he can change his game, and his current game is not good.

We can play the "if" game with anyone. If Favors could get to 33% on corner 3s we could play him with Gobert. If Exum could stay healthy he could have been our perimeter defender. Neither of those seem that difficult and they still didn't happen. I will believe it with Drummond when I see it

I wouldn't look to the next CBA agreement in three years to change anything. There's simply too many large-market teams that will want to continue to take advantage of the situation that won't sign-on to what smaller markets will want to do.

Jazz simply need to play their game and not get enamored - championships are won on the court, not on paper.

He is a better center than LA had last year (Dwight and McGee). Plus, they now have Harrell. The lost Rondo for Shroeder, but overall, the Lakers are better than last year. If they can get healthy..
