Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

I dislike Simmons, but if he is getting dumped as part of a deal and we could get him for next to nothing or one of our vets contracts its a no brainer to pick him up. Worst case his salary sits here for a few years but thats fine. Best case he gets back to where he was or more.
I’m personally not a huge fan of Ben Simmons but starting a rebuild with two former #1 picks that are younger then 25 and have been big contributors for #1 seeds within the last 2 seasons + having heavy draft capital isn’t a terrible place to begin.

I will be happy if we traded for Ayton and kept Mitchell or if we traded Mitchell for a godfather offer. I understand both ways of thinking and personally hope we don’t trade Mitchell because I don’t want to endure 5+ years of rebuilding but I would still be here chatting it up in the game and draft threads.
Maybe it will be 2 years of rebuilding after we draft Bronny and LeBron has to join the Jazz lol.

I only think there are like 2/3 teams that can offer him a max/near max.
And all it takes is one of them offer him that, and he'll be very happy.

Look, I can see why Ayton would want to cooperate with a sign-and-trade IF he knows that he's not getting a better offer in the RFA market. But none of us know if this is the case or not (hopefully, for his case, his agent has a good idea). Maybe the reason the whole KD trade is stalled is because Ayton isn't pleased with the sign-and-trade proposals and thinks he'll get a better offer in RFA.

The Suns also didn't do themselves any favors essentially dragging him in public. They basically let every other team know that they didn't think he was worth a max, that they wanted to trade him, and that they thought he was easily replaceable. Now they have to try and sell teams on him being a core player worth a big contract and convince him to work with them.

IIRC once he signs an offer sheet elsewhere but basically eliminates the possibility they are able to trade him.
That’s correct. They can match or let him walk. They could match it then trade him in season though… it would seemingly mean Ayton isn’t part of a KD trade though. Unless his value is really bad I think that is a psuedo deadline.

If that's what results, it's still the result that gives him the most money. He'll find a way to live with it.
Nba players are super good and cool getting their money then figuring something out later.

There’s not a scenario that exists where we should be willing to bail out Brooklyn and jump on the Simmons grenade.

I mean…if they give you enough unprotected picks/pick swaps. Ir if a 3rd team is brought into the equation and between the 3rd team and Brooklyn you get a ridiculous haul, you have to take Simmons If you can get that deal.

I mean if we’re being realistic barring injuries the other two 2023 1sts we own are likely to be in the 20’s. I’d deal one or two for Ayton.

I guess I just don’t really understand the value in trading assets for Ayton. You are not going to win the title with a starting 5

Mitchell
Clarkson
Bojan
Vanderbilt
Ayton

I’d rather, in the parlance of one of the previous community members, Ainge “burn this b*tch to the ground”

Here's a thought. When the Gobert trade is finalized, then a 40.3 TPE becomes available. Just outright sign Deandre Ayton with the TPE. Why wouldn't this work?

People just keep rehashing old rumors. Let's start some new ones.

for example: the jazz are interested in trading FOR Jimmie butler to pair with DM for another run at the wcf.

I mean the 2023 pick is not likely to be great so you are almost expecting it to be the 20s… so if it isn’t then awesome… if Rudy has a good year I’m cool with all that too… the picks later are the ones that will be the most juicy if Rudy slows down or if one of their guys gets hurt or if the fit gets too hard to make it work long term.

Life isn’t black and white.

The way I see it... it's all out of our hands now. The Wolves will be what they are going to be. If they are contending I would love watching Gobert play at the highest level and I would be happy if they win it all with Gobert being key part of that success. To me whether we get the 30th pick or 25th pick is not in any way a major concern. On the other hand... if they are mediocre or bad ... I want them to be as bad as possible because the higher the pick the more the value between picks is higher. 1 vs 2 or 2 vs 6 is much bigger difference in value than 24 vs 25 or 25 vs 30.

People are complicated and sometimes conflicting interests battle in the mind. It's OK. The fandom gatekeeping is kind of distasteful but whatever floats people's boats...

4th of July is when things happen for the Jazz. How many of you remember where you were on 7/4/17 when you heard the news?
I was at my father's birthday party. The party had its highs and its lows starting with the leak... then the denial... then "Thank you, Utah"...

DA/Jazz are in a really strong negotiation position. Both NY/BKYN would like to have local kid. If we don't get the haul we want now, DM will command as much or more next year. RyRy gets his all star boy. Patients is going to payoff. I trust DA to squeeze every penny out of this.
Are they going to let a scorer on the 10th best team in the West into the All-star game?
