Jazz sign Cody Zeller to camp deal

Not that it has to mean anything but weird he signed here. Doubt we move Vando or Doke but maybe... maybe he thinks he can beat out Doke for a job? Weird.
 
This is probably just Zeller trying to get back in the NBA. The Jazz arent signing him. He's going to be on the Stars. If he can stay healthy he will probably get some 10 days and maybe even another NBA contract. It just wont be on the Jazz.

Like, I had totally missed that Mason Plumlee had replaced Cody Zeller on the Hornets because they both occupied the "absolutely nondescript white center with very short hair" slot.

Yeah, I'm not entirely certain if you lose the trade because you got a Zeller/Plumlee or just that the Plumlee/Zeller is the symbol that you lost. The whole causation/correlation thing. But if it's the latter, it's definitely the key indicator on the THT deal.

Not sure how these rules apply to signings but its not a good omen.
 
If this really is just a camp deal and he isn't on the roster when the season starts, then I like the idea of Zeller mentoring Kessler and Dok. I definitely don't want him on the roster when the season starts though, taking minutes from the young guys.
