Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

Remember how we were linked to Sexton all off-season…
I do... we also were linked to the Knicks all off-season... we also thought Bogey was LA bound or Phoenix bound.

My guess is if it happens we will be a little shocked at how well DA did. Like he will have gotten a pick swap and the Kings pick... will be a trade where we get 1.50 on the 1.

Like I'd rather see what Obi Toppin would cost if Atlanta doesn't pony up a pick. That seems more like a "Lauri" trade to me.

If we’re trading for Collins, I want two draft picks. Then I’d immediately turn around and send him to Miami for Robinson, Dedmon and a 27/29 pick.

I don't think he will be flippable. Atlanta signed that deal to hopefully move him later... have shopped him for 3 years. I hope if DA trades for him he likes him and I hope he holds firm with what his ask is (not too concerned there... he likely holds the line).

I just feel like people haven't actually watched him. He can't really handle the ball all that much. His shooting has dipped to Rudy Gay levels. His defense is pretty solid but it isn't like he has the length that Lauri does. He isn't transcendent on that end.

Trying to re-create the Lauri trade is nice... but there is a great chance it isn't something that really gets duplicated.

Deandre Hunter is the one from Atlanta who could improve significantly in our system. Although by all reports the Hawks are high on him.

I dunno. I really feel like he ends up getting in the way and is an opportunity cost by taking him. I’d take him if I knew we could offload him in a year for something serviceable.

Yeah but even Hunter gonna have to stay healthy and improve to live up to his deal.

On ESPN 700 Andy Larsen said he thinks Beasley and Vanderbilt are probably the most likely guys to be dealt before the deadline.
If we trade Vando, I’ll be just sick about it unless it’s an offer we can’t refuse. Vando will be really good. Mark my words.
We are definitely trading for Collins.
This reminds me of your we’re definitely trading for RJ Barrett bit. Lmao
Collins could turn out to be another player with a Markkanen like resurgence. Uber athletic with versatility. I wouldn't doubt for a second he could turn things around here in a new system that's more team oriented.
Not even close. Markkanen is a 7ft unicorn, who the bulls unexpectedly gave up on him. And wasn’t given a shot. Markkanen can shoot drive and pass and move like a wing. Collins is really not that skilled, just athletic, not a good shooter. He’s only gotten worse over the years and carries a heavy price tag for someone with his production.
Remember how we were linked to Sexton all off-season…
We were linked to a lot of people that were available, and we were looking ant any and all that were available and none were more available than Sexton.

This is a Celtics writer that used to cover Ainge in Boston. He makes a good point. No one thought we were going to trade Don to the Cavs, there wasn't much smoke about the Timberwolves with Rudy, Beverley for THT came out of nowhere, as did Bogey for Olynyk. The one obvious exception to this is the Jazz acquiring Sexton because there were rumors pretty much all offseason about the Jazz being interested in him.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the same thing happen at the deadline...one or two trades that come completely out of left field and catch us all off guard.

Nobody is talking about a Rudy Gay/Johnny Juzang for Tyrese Halliburton trade. Just sayin.

It was leaked that Cleveland and Minnesota were both interested though.

Oh man… just had flashbacks to the great leverage debate with the Knicks fans… let’s start that argument with the Hawks fans… it will be so fun… cuz the answer to the “who has the leverage?” Question is always Danny.

Just because we have the most to offer doesn’t mean we have to give you the best offer. Who else is going to match it?

Bobby Marks just posted a trade deadline watch for every EC team. He posted one trade each team should do. Two involved the Jazz:

Brooklyn trades Day’Ron Sharpe, Kessler Edwards and Philadelphia’s 2027 top-8 protected 1st for Jarred Vanderbilt.

Miami trades Dewayne Dedmon and their 2023 top-14 protected 1st for Jarred Vanderbilt.

We have to do the Brooklyn one just so we have Nickiel Alexander- Walker Kessler Edwards… credit to @infection

I wouldn't. I might trade him for the raw high upside Ousmane Dieng from OKC if they are itching to make a run at the play in. Dieng is a year away from a year away so they might consider it if we added a pick swap or something. Maybe he isn't available for anyone, but I bet he gets squeezed with all the other more ready talent on that team.
I also might go the route of trading him for Jalen Smith ( still only 19 seems older) who can be our 3rd big easily able to play the 4 or 5 imo. Assuming they plan on keeping Myles out there now that they are a ton better than expected.
