2023 NBA Draft Megathread

If Wemby and Miller go 1 & 2, would Portland accept 9, 16, and 28 for number 3? Portland has lots of needs and the Jazz could use Scoot or Amen. Would the Jazz? I would give up all three picks for either player.
Unfortunately if they are trying to win with Dame they need proven bigs, not picks.

They have two paths imo, reboot and trade Dame or package the #3 pick to trade for a star level big.

How does GG compare to MPJ?

Like how? Measurements? Role? Shooting? Let me put it this way -- I've been watching GG closely since last July when he re-classified. You can see my takes in the first 10 or 15 pages of this thread. Having watched GG during the past year and how he's developing himself, it's pretty clear to me that his main role model is Jayson Tatum. He's not as good a shooter as Tatum, and his face-up package isn't as smooth or developed, but that's what he wants to be. He wants to score at three levels, and he wants to create space for himself with a combination of hesitations, side-steps, and step-backs.

The reality is that GG's main advantage right now is actually his foot speed and his ability to get by defenders with speed and length. Coaches are going to need to calm GG down and tell him to be like Jeff Green or John Collins before attempting that iso stuff.

MPJ is supposed to be an elite catch-and-shoot player. He actually hasn't been that consistent. I wouldn't compare GG to MPJ. Depending on how things shake out, it may be possible to compare Hendricks to MPJ or maybe Klintman. Last year's comp of Jabari Smith to MPJ (at least on offense) made some sense.

Here’s my ideal draft now we know our spot: #9 Hendricks, #16 JHS, #28 whoever is left of Cissoko/Coulibaly/Rupert/Whitehead/Murray

Anyone know how Cason Wallace compares to Jamal Murray height/size wise?

They're both supposed to be 6'3-6'4 but Murray looks huge for a PG in the NBA but Wallace looks undersized as a PG in College.

Cason Wallace is 6'2.5" with a 6'8" wingspan. He's like Deanthony Melton or maybe Gary Harris.

Jamal Murray is an inch or so taller and 15 - 20 lbs heavier. Murray is definitely bigger than Wallace.

If there's a Shai Gilgeous in this draft, I think it might turn out to be Bilal Coulibaly rather than Jalen Hood-Schifino.
Narrator: There probably isn't a Shai Gilgeous in this draft.

As much as people complain about Gradey Dick, if you look at the Jazz right now, none of Ochai, Lauri or Walker are advanced creators. If Dick comes in as a bankable shooter and connective ball mover, that's going to help the Jazz a lot. Plus, I think Dick's IQ and advanced timing on plays are being underrated.

The Jazz really need a wing-sized on-ball creator, though it's possible they're looking at Hood-Schifino for that role.

The amount of squinting going on here would worry any eye doctor.

I don't care what Dick could or couldn't do in college ball. In the NBA, he's strictly a shooting player.

I disagree. I think he can do virtually everything that people are raving about Austin Reaves doing. He's got drives, floaters, rim finishes, some playmaking...he's an interesting player.

I’ve wondered about that myself. I hope they take Hendricks or Walker

I'm laying out a mock in my signature. I think Detroit would take Whitmore. I think Orlando would take Hendricks. Indiana is then choosing between Ausar and Dick. They might take Dick simply because he's a much better shooter and they have Halliburton with the ball in his hands. That moves Ausar to Washington. Jarace Walker would fall to the the Jazz at 9. Dallas will move their pick in an attempt to make Luka happy, though I suppose they could keep it and draft Lively.
