Yeah but if what you said all happens then Keyonte at #16 is a real possibility also right?
There's a bit of smoke around Keyonte and OKC at #12. I'm assuming that Keyonte also gets picked in that range.

Let’s say we take GG at #9
Then: Black, Wallace, Bufkin, Keyonte could be available from #10.
That’s 4 players between #10 - #15, or 5 picks.
I’m comfortable taking that risk.
It would have to be an amazing streak to have 4 teams take 4 point guards in a row to miss out on a point guard at #16.
Wow, you think the Jazz would pass on Ausar? No way.First of all, it would be a plot twist if the Jazz take GG at #9. I'd take him there, but I'm not convinced the Jazz would. Second, picks 10 - 15 are six (6) picks, not 5. Read my signature for how I think things would realistically play out.
If the Jazz want to draft a point guard as a priority, they'll do it at #9. Otherwise, Black, Wallace, George and Bufkin could all be gone by 15. (Gradey Dick should also go in that range.)

Yeah but that’s thinking point guard is the Jazz priority in the draft.
The fact that Ainge got Dunn in at the end of the season I think means we’ve at least now got him in our back pocket so again not a priority.
I’m just reading the tea leaves here BTW.
It’s not the same but I really get the 2013 draft’s “Trey Burke before Giannis” feel with the #9 pick this year. Go for the sure thing point guard or swing for the fence. There is one other scenario, which is that the Jazz trade #16 and #28 to NOLA to move up to #14. That jumps over ATL and could possibly get one of Bufkin or George. NOLA could draft their choice of Dereck Lively, Dariq Whitehead, Brice Sensabaugh or Rayan Rupert, etc. Maybe the Jazz take back a contract.
I have no idea what the Jazz will do, just that David Locke seems to be intimating that the Jazz are going to look at Wallace and Ausar at #9. I could totally see the Jazz wanting a PGOTF and feeling that Cason Wallace has the toughness, competitiveness and enough skillset that Will Hardy likes to establish his culture. In that sense, Wallace would be like Kris Dunn, but with a somewhat reliable jump shot. Wallace only gives up a half inch in height and an inch in wingspan to Dunn.
Things that could throw a wrench: (1) The Jazz fall in love with Ausar. (2) The Jazz fall in love with another PG that could be available at #10 or #11 in a trade-back scenario (e.g., George or Bufkin); if ORL wants to secure Gradey, they could trade up with the Jazz. (3) The Jazz are secretly in love with Bilal Coulibaly, which is why Danny Ainge flew to Paris recently to go watch him.
Yeah that’s the whole reason for me starting this thread.Personally, I’m perfectly happy running it back with THT, Sexton and Dunn at PG next year and focusing on wing sized players in this draft. It sure seems loaded with those types of guys and I think it’ll be a lot easier to acquire a decent starting PG if nobody on the roster pans out.
My personal Jazz specific draft board is tilted heavily towards size and upside.
Assuming the top 4 are Wemby, Scoot, Brandon Miller and Amen Thompson, my next tier of players are Cam Whitmore, Jarace Walker, Ausur Thompson, Taylor Hendricks and GG Jackson.
After that, I have Bilal Coulibaly, Grady Dick, Anthony Black, Cason Wallace, Bobi Klinkman, Sidy Cissoko and Leonard Miller as the guys I’m most interested in for #16. Personally, I’m hoping that the Jazz take #28 and a salary cap dump from a team in the teens and can get two of those players. I’d extend that tier to include Keyonte George, Jordan Hawkins, Kobe Bufkin and maybe Dereck Lively if they could pull that off.
If not, you still have Jaime Jaquez, Maxwell Lewis, Noah Clowney, Dariq Whitehead, Rayan Rupert, Kris Murray, Brandin Podziemski, Jalen Hood-Schifino, Jett Howard and Bryce Sensabaugh that I think would all be worth taking at pick #28.
IMO, if you take the guard early, you likely miss out on the top wings. I’d rather focus on getting that player first (even if it’s a slight reach) and then start looking at guards later in the draft. If the Jazz don’t end up taking a PG in this draft, I won’t mind a bit.
Good catch. No way we take Wallace ahead of Ausar if he falls to us.
Deepest in quality or quantity? Why are we obsessed with getting a PG? Last I checked, that was one of the Jazz’s deepest positions this year.
Shouldn’t we be focused on getting the BPA? And if we want to focus on needs, that 4-2 position is a mess. Aside from Walker and Kessler, our starting lineup just doesn’t look very good.
Meh. Not quality. But this draft isn’t exactly loaded with can’t miss PG talent either. The only one that moves the needle for me at where we’re picking is the Michigan guy. But if there are some better athletes available, I’d suggest we look at them.Deepest in quality or quantity?
Kobe Bufkin looks more athletic to me than George. So I think he’d be the better comparison to Murray. I think George looks like Eric Gordon or Steve Urkel to me, good athlete with great range.Could we all agree that the most Jamal Murray like player in this draft is Keyonte George?
