2023 NBA Draft Megathread

What’s worse if GG performed poorly in a workout or if he said or did something to someone like Givony that now he has a personal agenda to bad mouth him.

It’s just a weird persecution complex the GG folks seem to have… bad things aren’t his fault… it’s everyone around him… it’s why he’s GG Teflon.
Yeah, no one is saying that. It's clear Givony fluffs it for some players and will only point out the positive. If you can't realize that idk what to tell you.

Why do they do this? Because if you bad mouth a CAA client the entire agency will restrict access to their clients. GG doesn't have that.

I get that but why does Givony have it out for GG? What did he hear or what did he say or do to him? Or is he actually hearing he struggled in his workout and reporting the truth? Or is he just an ******* and finally gets to bully someone cuz he doesn’t have an agency backing him?

His mom represents GG. CAA has a team a relationships with all the social media types. Not saying the criticism isn't warranted but if you hire the right team you get the fluff coverage.

GG could have Karl Malone syndrome. He just does thing his own way and creates some ruffled feathers, etc. I would take this as a slight negative in the evaluation but it could mean some intense loyalty from him if he becomes good.

Yeah, I've never denied any of the negative stuff regarding GG (I wrote the book on hating on GG. I was hating on GG while he was playing well in our of conference play). Multiple people said he had a poor workout. Difference is Givony used that to just **** on everything about him, even the stuff that objectively made no sense (like saying he measured poorly then showing his nearest physical comp was Paul George).

Then you got guys like Rafael Barlowe, a guy who has been watching him workout for the last month, adding context and saying he was recovering from an illness.

Do we actually think GG Jackson was the only prospect to have a disappointing pro day?

So why didn't Givony mention Podz measured with poor length? But he comments on GG's measurements being bad?

You know, if you’re making a tweet about someone who had a good weekend at the combine you’re probably going to say the reasons why it was a good weekend. Same goes for a tweet about a bad combine. You’re going to mention why it was bad instead of the little things that contradict the statement.

That’s super normal. When you make a post about why you like someone you probably don’t list out every negative thing possible. Unless it’s GG of course, because those negatives are actually positives /s.

I wouldn’t put it against DX to have certain agendas, but GG and Podz aren’t exactly the guys he’s going to go to battle for.

I'm still hoping we get lucky and land Gradey and Cason. Imagine adding them with Walker and Ochai. That would be amazing for two seasons of youth.

Ainge has set us up to kick some serious ***.
Gradey would be nice at 16 though I'm starting to become a bit of a Jett Howard > Gradey Dick guy

Do you think tweeting about his measurements being poor when they weren't poor at all is a normal thing?

That's the kicker for me. I could understand all the other stuff, but the inclusion of that just made it feel forced.

Yes and some people doubted the sickness… so it was a workout bad enough that he had to come out with some reasoning. And I honestly can’t remember ever hearing about a disappointing pro day so maybe he is the only one that’s had one that bad.

Either way Givony ain’t gonna just **** on a guy for no reason lol. If it’s personal it’s quite likely he heard something or had interactions that weren’t positive… any way you put the puzzle together it’s a another warning sign the GG hive wants to pass off on someone else or make a bunch of excuses for. If anyone ever could benefit from a big agency it’s GG and he and his family have opted to go their own way…

I don't think he ever tweeted about his measurements. A quick scan on his twitter shows that the only tweet since the combine about GG is a highlight clip from his pro day. The only comment on his pro day in the tweet was positive as it mentioned he drew a large crowd. Before it came out that GG sucked at his pro day people were presenting the edited video as evidence that he is good.

The comment made about his measurements is that they were pedestrian for a PF, and I don't see the big issue with that. His height is more than average, his length is lower than average for a PF. Maybe average is a more friendlier spin on this than "pedestrian", but I don't really see a big difference. GG's measurements were better than expected but his measurements were expected to be bad for a PF.

The message DX has given on GG has been consistent and I don't think it's been unfair. The thing you'll hear said over and over is "polarizing", and he mentions the positive and negatives each time. There is a lot of interest in him as he wrote in the article and a lot of this interest is generated from his pedigree coming from HS. Teams are intrigued by him and DX has been consistent in mentioning this. This is counterbalanced by his poor play at South Carolina and his poor showing at his pro day. Seems like the poor performance is winning over, but it's hardly unfair.

Givony said in the Woj Podcast that Miller and his reps are refusing to talk at all about the incident in Alabama and instead are giving teams a prepared set of legal documents and practically saying "No further comment". He's saying teams are NOT liking that at all...

Yeah that's not a good look, especially if he's meeting more teams than normal. Of course they are going to ask him about it. What's surprising to me is that both Woj and DX seem to believe that Miller "should" be the second pick and that he's the second best prospect. Scoot definitely lost a lot of ground this season.

Yeah but that’s exactly what they should do lol… it’s a legal issue and if saying nothing costs him a draft slot or two not a big deal. If he has to recount the story 10 different times are there are inconsistencies and then he’s in court later that stuff will be used against him. It’s absolutely the right move and a guy being smart enough to listen to sound legal advice.

Sucks for the teams… but they should respect it.

I don't blame him. He's already commented on it so much, it must be exhausting.

Here's GG comparing himself to Wilt Chamberlain at the Combine.
