2024 NBA Draft Mega Thread

And it's hard to disagree with the defense part. I forgot what game it was, but it was early on and some mid major was absolutely targeting Sheppard in crunch time and torching him.

When he isnt the help and has to be the POA, can he survive being that small?

I still have Sheppard high, but he's definitely one of those prospects where you kind of have to really sit and reflect on if it's going to work or not.
The biggest thing for me about shep is he seems to have the IT. That is something you can't teach.

I wonder what the Jazz are going to do at the center position. A rotation of John Collins and Walker Kessler isn't compelling.

I think Walker has a bounce back season next year. We stuck with John most likely. It’s fine. Sarr early or maybe Edey if he lasted into the 20s are guys that would be interesting obviously. Sounds like Edey might go in the teens. Idk… what center yiu eyeballing.

Teams are really defined now by the type of player they play at the 1 and the 5. Everyone else 2-4, ideally, would be a long athletic, 2-way wing. So it's really a question of what style of center the Jazz are envisioning.

The best bang for the buck at the center position in this draft is probably Chomche. He's got the size, length and physicality to have an impact, plus there's a bit of passing and shooting touch to work with. He'll probably go in the 2nd half of the 1st round.

Otherwise, Kyle Filipowski could probably come in, develop and be similar to a Jusuf Nurkic maybe--someone who will move the ball, finish plays, space the floor a bit and play positional defense, if not guard the rim.

I just get the sense that the Jazz want to space the floor and create lanes for passing and cutting. I think the fact that the Jazz keep bringing Kessler off the bench is telling. I don't think it's just a matter of trying to build John Collins' trade value. I think they want everyone to be able to shoot and attack open space.

Flip is not a Nurk. You haven't watched this season apparently. The guy has been great at defending on the perimeter.

I understand dogging on Holland and Collier as #1 picks….but they aren’t half bad for later lotto picks.

Holland wasn’t super impressive….but some team is going to say, “it’s Ron Holland” just like with Kuminga and it might work out the same way. Holland also has Ainge written all over him.

Yup. If Holland falls to the Jazz, I'd expect the Jazz to grab him.

At what point is Knecht a consensus top 10 guy among mocks? Will it take an impressive tourney run? IMO he should already be there among NBA teams.

Agreed, but the mainstream mocks aren't reflecting that yet.
I think it is an age thing. He will be 23 at draft time. That seems to project less of a ceiling or less development or something. I watched a lot of the Tennessee vs South Carolina game last night.

Particularly to see his defense. It was average at best. He put in good effort but just didn't have great foot positioning.

Of course it's an age thing.

The question is what has to happen for him to be a consensus top 19. Strong SEC tourney? 30 points in the NCAA tourney? A national championship?

His D probably isnt good, but it's always hard to judge college stars who cant get in foul trouble.
