2024 NBA Draft Mega Thread

Anecdotes whether good or bad are something you should use. It felt like a shot because I definitely listed off like 10 names on the pod of guys with the shooting indicators that it did or didn't work out for. Honestly the examples are about all we have. Their prediction value obviously not perfect... some guys with his shooting profile ended up being able to shoot some didn't. If all we did was say the shooting percentages are good so they will be a good shooter... then the draft wouldn't be hard. The draft is hard.

I didn't see the post you are referring to, wasn't a shot. I was just saying that we shouldn't pull the "well Kawhi Leonard couldn't shoot" kind of thing. I don't got a problem with projecting shooting development, but I really find the "kawhi leonard" anecdotal argument to be useless so I tried to get ahead of it.

There are probably 10-15 decent comps the last 7 or so years that range grom Jaylen Brown and Dejounte Murray, to Okoro or Troy Brown, to Justise Winslow/out of the league.

Nikola Jovic’s per 36 stats for Mega:

15.2 PPG, 5.7 RPG, 4.4 APG, 0.7 SPG, 75.4 FT%, 50.0 2PT%, 35.6 3PT%

Nikola Topic’s per 36 stats for Mega:

19.6 PPG, 7.5 APG, 3.8 RPG, 1.1 SPG, 85.5 FT%, 66.7 2PT%, 25.9 3PT%

Different players and different positions but Topic’s production is very good.

Another median outcome might be Troy Brown Jr., imo.
Thats a low end outcome... and yes... I used that one too. But did Brown fail cuz he couldn't shoot? If Castle shoots 35% from 3 and 78% from the line I think he will not be a bust.

Jaylen Brown had a better offensive game and still shot a higher percentage on higher attempts.

The thing with drafting Castle is... he will make this team better... he will contribute to winning right away IMO. Someone earlier said he'd be in the GLeague unless we are tanking. I couldn't disagree more. I think Castle would give us precisely what we are missing now and is losing us games right now. He will be doing all the small things that win you games and all the things that noone on this team currently does.

Are there any full games of his I can watch?

HH told me Topic was a traffic cone on defense and I’m starting to wonder if he just figured he’s white so he must be bad at defense. Not sure but from watching a lot of his U18 games he makes plays on defense. Is he a lockdown defender? No. Is he a good defender? No, but he’s more than a traffic cone.

Also, USC, one of the worst teams in the PAC-12, beat Mega Mis (Topic' team) twice in the pre-season. Just some context for the quality of that league.
