2024 NBA Draft Mega Thread

I like Risacher quite a bit more than Buzelis. I see the similarities between them, but I think Risiacher has more of an outside/in game vs Buzelis is more of an inside/out game. I just think Richaser looks like a much more fluid athlete and his shot looks more real to me. I think Risacher is the more aggressive defender as well, and I just think overall I can see his game translating to the NBA.

I'm not watching full games though, so the critiques on him becoming invisible are concerning. I'll probably try watching some more full game film later.

First time I saw him and was looking at mock drafts I had hopes he will be there at 27 or 32... but now he seems closer to the lottery than to the end of the 1st...
That’s what happens when you have a good March and he is the second best shooter in the draft.

Kevin Pelton did his big board where he combines stat projections along with ESPN’s big board to come up with a ranking system that includes WARP.

1. Donovan Clingan
#3 in stats, 3.7 WARP

2. Reed Sheppard
#1 in stats, 3.7 WARP

3. Alex Sarr
#4 in stats, 3.6 WARP

4. Zach Edey
#2 in stats, 3.1 WARP

5. Zaccharie Risacher
#81 in stats, 2.2 WARP

6. Ja’Kobe Walter
#8 in stats, 2.2 WARP

7. Rob Dillingham
#29 in stats, 2.2 WARP

8. Johnny Furphy
#4 in stats, 2.0 WARP

9. Nikola Topic
#43 in stats, 1.9 WARP

10. Stephon Castle
#27 in stats, 1.8 WARP

In terms of overall draft strategy, I could see the Jazz getting a facilitator and a big in this draft and go hard after star-caliber wings in next year's draft. Ace Bailey, Cooper Flagg, Tre Johnson and AJ Dybantsa all look like high-level prospects. There just isn't that kind of player in the '24 draft. Dylan Harper and VJ Edgecomb are also good guard prospects.

Someone might see Ron Holland as one. Maybe even Cody Williams.

I like Cody Williams, but he's just not very explosive. He's going to have to be sneaky and slippery like SGA has turned out to be.

Holland has some of that upside, but to be a real star requires iso-scoring, and I think Holland is a long way off. I think he's an off-ball slasher right now.

A good draft this year would be a facilitator like Topic or Buzelis (if you believe in that aspect of his game), plus a two-way big (maybe Missi, Chomche or Ware). There are some good shooters this year too--e.g., Risacher, Knecht, Sheppard, George, etc.

Would be a horrible decision. Unless the feedback they get is not as good as they hoped.
Why would it be horrible? If he's as good as you seem to think, he could actually boost his stock. He would be the primary option at Kentucky and he would get to be a full fledged point guard.

NIL money would be stupid and he'd be a program saver

I think we hashed over this before last season and I don’t feel like doing it again but if you’re a guaranteed top-5 pick or top-10 at worst you should declare for the draft. What if he got injured or didn’t play as well because his team will likely be **** around him? A lot of risk and not a lot of upside.

You’re also highly overrating total NIL money. He wouldn’t get near what he’d make on the first year of his rookie contract.
