Roe v Wade Obvious Consequences

Tough beans. Life begins at conception so that 13 year old girl should’ve thought better before being raped. Besides, if god didn’t want her to be a mom at age 13, he would’ve figured out a way for the girl to not have gotten pregnant. And she better not ask for my tax dollars to help her pay for anything! She should pull herself up by her own bootstraps. Foster’s freeze CEO can’t take any less money!

Is this really the society we want to live in? How is this better than just letting Roe be? Other than religious weirdos and misogynists stuck 50 years in the past, how is this helping anything?

Interesting. It’s almost like republicans are held hostage by their Christian nationalist base. That’s fine, Democrats will take care of this issue come November… and paint Arizona blue. Arizona will soon have a blue state legislature, governor, two senators, and provide all of its electoral votes to Biden.

Remember folks, bad policy ideas and candidates lead to losing elections. It’s not Hugo Chavez servers or bamboo ballots that make you lose. It’s your own dumb decisions.

Elections have consequences.

One woman miscarried in the restroom lobby of a Texas emergency room as front desk staff refused to admit her. Another woman learned that her fetus had no heartbeat at a Florida hospital, the day after a security guard turned her away from the facility. And in North Carolina, a woman gave birth in a car after an emergency room couldn't offer an ultrasound. The baby later died.

Complaints that pregnant women were turned away from U.S. emergency rooms spiked in 2022 after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, federal documents obtained by The Associated Press reveal.

The cases raise alarms about the state of emergency pregnancy care in the U.S., especially in states that enacted strict abortion laws and sparked confusion around the treatment doctors can provide.

Pregnant patients have “become radioactive to emergency departments” in states with extreme abortion restrictions, said Sara Rosenbaum, a George Washington University health law and policy professor.

“They are so scared of a pregnant patient, that the emergency medicine staff won’t even look. They just want these people gone," Rosenbaum said.

Consider what happened to a woman who was nine months pregnant and having contractions when she arrived at the Falls Community Hospital in Marlin, Texas, in July 2022, a week after the Supreme Court’s ruling on abortion. The doctor on duty refused to see her.

“The physician came to the triage desk and told the patient that we did not have obstetric services or capabilities,” hospital staff told federal investigators during interviews, according to documents. “The nursing staff informed the physician that we could test her for the presence of amniotic fluid. However, the physician adamantly recommended the patient drive to a Waco hospital.”

Pro Death!!!!!!!!!
This is from 5 months ago so it's probably more around 50,000 saved from you Baby Genocide Nationalist. Not much Democrats hate more than Christianity but babies are one of them. Especially seeing how a huge chunk were minority black babies. That makes the Baby Genocide Nationalist even madder. How dare we not genocide black people.....

At least 30,000 new babies who would have otherwise been aborted were instead born in states that enacted some form of abortion restriction following the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade in June 2022, a new study found.

Yeah this is the kind of **** that could push us closer to civil war. ****ing ridiculous. If there is a God those who put us in this situation are definitely going to hell.

or we could elect enough democrats in the house and senate to codify Roe nationally. That would end this nonsense immediately. And if theocratic weirdos who want to force their extremist views on controlling women don’t like it, they are certainly free to move to a country that might be more aligned with their views, like Iran. Just because we’re a democracy doesn’t mean we need to empower everyone and their views no matter how extremist, hurtful, or misogynistic. Real people are suffering today in 2024 because these Christian nationalists want to roll back the clock on women’s rights back to 1824. Just because controlling women gives old white dudes at a party caucus boners doesn’t mean it should become national policy.

It’s pretty obvious now too, it was never about protecting life. It was always about misogyny. Their goal was to re-establish the patriarchal hierarchy. I’ve yet to see any legislation to support women or their children. Yet plenty of legislation has been passed that makes women’s lives far more miserable than before Roe was overturned.

I'm not as stuck on Democrat or Republican, we just need people that aren't nut jobs. I'd be fine with a Republican that recognizes they've gone too far and wants to pull things back toward center. Why the hell is Romney so old and burned out? He'd be a breath of fresh air right now.

Because you’ll be primaried out of office/wont receive the Fox News interviews/wont receive the donor money if you’re moderate in the GOP. Part of the reason why im sure Romney is retiring is because he was going to lose his caucus primary. He’d have to use the emergency signature route (more expensive) to survive and have a primary election rather than be ousted by the caucus.

It’s why we see the crazy inmates running the asylum. The incentive structure is set up to reward extremism. Gaetz, Green, and Senator Football Coach don’t get the Fox News interviews because they have such amazing policy ideas on how to deliver universal health care.

Im a fan of Democrats because they’re the only ones interested in sane moderate legislation right now. The other party would be just as happy just getting onto teevee and farting around.

This is utterly brilliant writing.

“Nobody’s suggesting that a woman is not an individual and she doesn’t deserve stabilization.” — Supreme Court Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr. during oral arguments Wednesday for Idaho v. United States, concerning whether federal law can require hospitals to perform emergency abortions in states with bans.
“I think the premise of the question would be that the state of Idaho can declare that she cannot get to the stabilizing treatment even if she’s going to die.” — Solicitor General Elizabeth B. Prelogar, arguing for the federal government.
Thank you for purchasing this updated copy of the classic game Operation! This edition changes longtime patient Cavity Sam to Cavity Samantha and includes a hugely expanded deck of playable cards that go well beyond the previous, limited world of “doctor” and “specialist.”

We’ve gotten a lot of questions from our loyal customers about this game, including, “Why?” and “How do judicial rulings change what emergency care our patient receives?” We’ve tackled them below.
Q: I got Operation because I was excited to have a game where I could practice lifesaving operations on a fun cartoon figure that buzzed when I did it wrong. I love my Cavity Samantha, but I’m confused by the gameplay. When can I operate, exactly?
A: Thank you for buying Operation: Post-Roe! Sorry you’re confused. If it makes you feel better, everyone is!
Q: But I didn’t have this problem with Cavity Sam.
A: That’s because Cavity Sam is always a person no matter where you’re operating. That’s not true of Cavity Samantha. That’s just one of the many thrilling improvements we’ve made to our gameplay in light of the Dobbs decision. What family doesn’t love to hear the cries of, “Wait! Before you take action to save the patient’s life, let’s check which state we’re in! To the rule book!” or “Doctor! Stop right there! I’m Justice Samuel Alito!”
Story continues below advertisement
Q: Actually, I have a question about the inclusion of Justice Samuel Alito as an unavoidable character in this game. Why?
A: What game isn’t more fun with the inclusion of Justice Samuel Alito?
A: We’ll have to agree to disagree.
Q: Why does my Justice Alito shout “Stop, Doctor! We must weigh the competing interests of Cavity Samantha against those of the unborn child!” in situations where doing so would be totally senseless — i.e., emergency situations where because of pregnancy complications, the loss of the fetus is inevitable but the loss of the life of the person carrying that fetus is not?
A: Ah, you’re again making the mistake of thinking your Cavity Samantha is a person. That’s why we wrote “ONLY A PERSON SOMETIMES” on the box in big red letters. Doctors keep forgetting that, and then they lose the game — and their licenses!

Q: What are all these new cards?
A: Great question! We’re so excited to introduce the new cards “state legislator,” “state Supreme Court” and “Vintage Law from 1864.” Unlike the “doctor” and “specialist” cards, which identified the medically necessary procedure and gave you the ability to perform it, these cards contain no medical expertise whatsoever and are there to discourage you from operating. Indeed, if you do, they will initiate “legal action,” and you can face a minimum of two years in prison!
Q: But the patient will die!
A: Oh, right. Again, Cavity Samantha is only sometimes a patient worthy of stabilization.

Q: It’s not fun for me to watch the patient die.
A: The patient doesn’t always die! Sometimes she just suffers a debilitating, life-altering injury!
Q: This isn’t an enjoyable game.
A: It’s not our problem that you can’t see how much fun it is to put care decisions in the hands of lots of people who aren’t doctors, some of whom died in the 1800s.
Q: I want to play the original game.
A: Then move! In some states, you can still play the Operation that Americans came to know for decades. But you better hurry — even there, you never know when this game might fly off the shelves!

That's incredibly unfortunate. In my old job we had a specialist women's hospital (separate hospital, separate organisation) within the footprint of our hospital, when we would have say a pregnant woman who was a road trauma or something like that, we would call them to support, even then their capacity to support was heavily dependant on resourcing. Really tough situation.

This is the freedumb voters voted for in 2016. They knew who Trump would nominate. They just didn’t care until it started to impact them personally.

Where’s the “pro life” movement now? You’d think they’d be up in arms over these poor women suffering like this. It’s almost like the pro life movement was just a bad joke. It was always meant to put a friendly face on weirdos wanting to control women.

The American medical system is very different from what you are describing. The Sacred Heart Emergency Center mentioned in the article isn’t in a hospital. It is in a mini-mall next to a tailor, a haircut shop, and a pizza place.

The street address is: 9774 Katy Fwy Suite 500, Houston, TX 77055. You can put that in Google and get a street view if you want to see it. It is a shop that services cuts, scrapes, broken bones, flu shots, etc. It isn’t a hospital.

A woman in labor walked in the front door and the staff told her she needs to be at a hospital with doctors, the medical devices, and facilities to handle obstetrics. The minimum wage EMTs they have on staff there at the mini-mall to stitch people up are little more qualified than if the women had walked into the pizza place a few doors down. The staff then called an ambulance to come get the women to a hospital.

The story is then cobbled together mentioning the overturning of Roe, which has nothing to do with why the mini-mall cut and scape store wasn’t equipped to handle the delivery of a baby, but it made content for dumdums who think it proves their preconceived notions correct.
