One big problem with trading either Sexton or Collins is salary matching. It's just tough to find deals that actually work for the teams that might want these guys on just a salary matching standpoint, before you even look at who might have picks to give us for Sexton. Under this CBA there's so little flexibility to make deals happen, just seems unlikely we'll see trades for either of these guys.

What are the chances we actually let him loose this season? I’m taking 33+ minutes a game?

I feel like there’s a slight chance Hardy starts Clarkson over him lol.

Sexton is fairly easy to salary match for most teams that would have the asset capital to give us something close to worthwhile.

Collins the issue isnt really salary matching at all. It's just that his production doesnt match the cost and he isnt a simple fit.

How many trades with real players (top 6 rotation players) occur after 7/15 but before the season?

I can’t imagine very many.

Moves are definitely more rare at this time of year, but I'd expect that DA is making sure to hold his cards closely until Aug 6th. Once that day comes, other moves could happen. We're working on a different schedule than the other teams.

My guy said this offseason could be an anomaly and we will likely see trades go down in August/September. Lauri is clogging up the situation for several teams but overall GM's are still digesting the CBA and new trade rules. There are players across the league that want to get traded off their current teams.

Maybe things will open up after Aug 6th when the Lauri situation is settled?

This. Say they are trying to get Lauri to sign on 8/6 you don't want to trade Walker or Sexton prior to that. You may bring up in that convo that "hey we will give you 200M but we may have to make roster moves after you do so as part of a long term strategy". So its part of the understanding that bearing with us is part of "what the money's for".

If GS or SA ponies up for Lauri by the extension date then you can do whatever. I still think Lauri would sign even if we made moves before 8/6 because $200M but I think you want to be clear and not rock the boat too hard. Once the extension is done it may trigger a handful of other transactions that may lead to us trading someone as well.

I think its clear we deal with the most important thing first and it has a definitive deadline/trigger date.

That and maybe the Olympics? Maybe teams want to make sure their stars come out healthy before making any deals.

Maybe not this off season but I don't see him as part of the future. He's what an 7th 8th guy on a contender?

This is a good point and has been in the back of my mind. Can you imagine GS pulling off a Lauri trade and then Steph breaks his leg like PG? Disaster potential.

It's so lame the Heat wasted a first on the Terry Rozier trade because they would be a perfect Sexton trade partner.

Seems like they drafted very well and have a team that can play quasi-five out while having great rim protection, which would be perfect for Sexton.

Zach Collins for Collin Sexton works straight up and the Spurs have a ton of picks.

If I was the Spurs I would be aggressive in trying to add Sexton while they have CP3. That would be a great learning experience for Sexton.
