Conspiracy Theory Corner

The issue with Ingram is that he's going to want a massive extension after this coming season. It's not a question of who wants him. It's a question of who really wants to pay him. I like Ingram, but in the $40M - $50M range, that's going to be tough, unless it's short term.

Stein has reported that he's looking for a 4-year extension at $210 million.

This is why the cost to acquire Ingram has to be low. There is a decent chance you get to the end of the season and mutually decide it's not a fit. But if the cost is just Collins and a first, then you've basically just paid a first to get off Collins at that point.

Can anyone translate?
Tldr version. Jazz tanked effectively with Lauri already so they could do it again

Lolz

Ingram is quite good but I feel like having two max money guys that have a total of two all star appearances in 16 years might not be the best way to build a team.

I’ve been the number one guy saying we will lose more with Lauri on roster than people think, but even I can understand we’re not going to be Wizards level of tanking with Lauri on the roster. Doing it for a third of the season is not the same as doing it for 82 games.

Here’s a conspiracy it’s wild I mean out there like hell will probably freeze over befor this happens but the nba has hand picked the jazz to add the next great white hope in Cooper Flagg

I had these last October. I'm not claiming credit for anything, just recognizing that trading for Ingram was a possibility going back to last off-season. I'm also iffy on trading for Ingram given his contract demands and where the Jazz are vis a vis the next two drafts.

Jazz should be competing for the Play-in. Utah's weakness is figuring out the PG position and on-ball creation in general. Without Mike Conley orchestrating last year, the offense got bogged down. Jazz probably also need Ochai to emerge as a volume shooter--like 8 3PAs a night with 3 makes. Jazz have a log-jam in the backcourt. If Keyonte starts to emerge, look for a trade to happen sooner rather than later, probably involving either Sexton or THT. Also, see if there are trade rumors involving Brandon Ingram this year and if the Jazz are mentioned.

I think the Jazz should trade for Brandon Ingram, if he'll extend here.

The Jazz are going to raid the Puerto Rico League for talent. . Emmanuel Mudiay is the leading scorer there followed by Jarred Sullinger and Rondae Hollis Jefferson. Ainge has ties to all of them.

It is if you keep doing what you did for a third of the season for 82 games though. Just gotta commit early on

I am impatient. I would get Ingram and trade Kessler and Sexton and hope we are bad enough for one season to get into the top 7 of the 2025 draft. Then next year get a center to protect the rim and try to win.

Only thing that scares me about Ingram is the kind of contract he is expecting to get. I think 50 per is too rich for a guy who is seen as a one way player and kinda does his own thing on offense. It has the stink of a Lavine deal and with the current CBA it feels like teams are very cautious with the high priced deals.

If he holds steady on his number then we either pay him and risk it turning into a negative deal or lose him for nothing after just 1 year if some other team meets his claim.

All recent championship teams had good defense: Boston, Denver, Milwaukee. There is one good defender on the Jazz now, Kessler, and he is seriously discussed as part of the deal for Ingram. The team featuring Lauri, Ingram, Keyonte and Sexton is going nowhere and getting killed defensively in the first round of the playoffs (if they make it). Ainge is not stupid, the two Boston championship teams that he built were very good defensively. He will not go for expensive, defensively challenged core with poor playmaking.
