Gordon Hayward Retires

Hahahahahahahahahahahaha

Karma’s a bitch.

Bitch.

Meh. I’m over it. He’s a seemingly good human being who made a mistake in how he handled his free agency with us. I’m sure he recognizes that and wishes he could’ve done things differently. I can’t crucify the guy for it.

WE made him the player he was.

He stabbed us in the back and bolted the minute he could back to Brad Stevens.

I have no time for that kind of player.

Good riddance.

We made him the player he was? He gets no credit for the hard work he put in to being the best that he could, under the supervision of coaches who are paid well to do their jobs to help him get better?

Stop.

Not going to lie, when he hurt himself I laughed my *** off. Looking back that was definitely not the right move on my part. He did give us some awesome years and truth be told I kind of wanted him back with the Spyda/Gobert years at the right price. Not that it was ever an option but I did think he would've fit.

I’m sure you already know this as you’re getting on in age.

But your life is often defined by just a few pivotal moments that could end up defining the rest of yours and others lives forever.

Think of a drunk driver who ended up killing another passenger and/or a pedestrian.

He himself also gets locked up for years.

Another would be the night you forgot to buy condom which ended up costing you tens of thousands over child support for 2 decades.

Same thing applies to Hayward and his treatment on us.

Your first reaction is often the correct one.

So many negative things said about Hayward. But why? What is exactly that he did wrong? He did not choose to be in Utah - 90% of players would not either - but was drafted by the Jazz. He played for the Jazz for two contracts. When he had the opportunity to play for the team in a location he liked more (and with the coach he liked more) he left. Is it what everybody else would do in his place? Have you never changed the jobs to be in a place/company you liked more? If you friend told you that he is changing jobs because he the career prospects are better there would you judge him and tell him to stick at his old company "because they gave you a chance 7 years ago with your first job"?

Also, yeah, he was quiet about moving to other company but who is not? Who is exactly running his mouth at work telling everybody that he is going to leave in a few months?

I really do not understand the amount of hate directed at Gordon. He did the same thing that most of us have also done and we never felt that we did anything wrong.

The answer to this should be completely obvious, and it baffles the mind that you don't get it. Haywood straight up lied to the Jazz about his willingness to stay, so that Utah ended up losing him for nothing. And to answer your question, Mitchell let the team know he wanted out and also kept it quiet so that Utah could get the most out of a trade. Imagine where this team would be now if Mitchell had ****ed us like Haywood did.

So yeah, **** Haywood.

Good to see you Freak!

Your presence around here is sorely missed.

Yeah, that about sums it up.

I don't hate him as a human being, nor did I wish that injury on him. That said, he lied to the Jazz and the fans about his desires. I don't mind if a player wants out (it's not for everyone, I get that). If Don did wish out, that doesn't change the fact that I appreciate him and what he did for Utah post-Voldemort. I also wish him nothing but the best. Regardless, just be straight with how you handle yourself and your business.

To be fair Hayward handled how you should if you want to go to a winning team. He could have asked Jazz to trade him to Boston and Boston would have had to give up assets. Instead they got him for free, making the Boston team better than if they traded for him. His injury really sucked for him, not the move away from Jazz. But he obviously could have done really well with Mitchell and Gobert. Too bad Jazz messed up his contract situation.

So he’s looking out for number 1, which he has the right to do.

We also have the right to say “**** you and good riddance.”

Sure.

Most people can be mature and just move on and also see fault on both sides. If your job shorted you big money and didn't give you what you deserved and other companies would offer. You would probably move on as well. But he also bit his own nose off to spite his face. He left Utah a little high and dry but also lost money to do so. Who knows how he did in Utah. I love the place but it's also weird as ****.

Oh well, he's rich as all get out now. I'm sure he's doing just fine.

I'm pretty sure he asked out the year prior and DL ignored it and thought they could convince him to stay with a good season.

At least that was a rumor I remember hearing from someone in the radio at one point

Yeah I remember that rumor, which likely was true. Most of the fault with Hayward lies with DL. We know he made him get his own max which took a year off and this likely true rumor pretty much killed us. I guess it's a gamble DL took on us winning and being able to offer him the most money that he lost on.

He played the Jazz pure and simple and Ainge was part of that cabal. I hope this wife likes having him around the house now.

I can only imagine how low the offers were knowing Danny Ainge. He had DL ****ed and likely knew it. So I get not trading him.

I mean the year before they could have traded him to plenty of teams.

Unless he has a no trade clause. I don't remember.
It was a known secret iirc that he wanted to go to Boston. He also wasn't an all-star prior to that season, so it's not like he had a massive market of people wanting to risk for a year of Hayward.

I remember the whole idea is that Utah would feature Hayward and raise him to new levels to the point where he would want to stay.

Maybe. Why not? What if he learned some other way? Somewhere in the chain some proto-jedi taught himself how it all works. Luke could have done that as well, we can never know, but we cannot discount the possibility.
You gotta stop arguing with someone who sleeps with a full sized anime body pillow, LG.
