Gordon Hayward Retires

You know, true believers in karma believe that one's karma is only generated by the individual's actions and therefore only affect that individual, that they do not affect the cause and effect of others.
It depends if they come in contact with that other person or not directly or indirectly I guess.

Maybe. Why not? What if he learned some other way? Somewhere in the chain some proto-jedi taught himself how it all works. Luke could have done that as well, we can never know, but we cannot discount the possibility.
Then the other way is his Karma also.

By backstabbing us, Hayward guarantees:

- no team to return to as a legacy player
- no fanbase would remember him fondly let alone love him
- lose out on potential future endorsements
- his kids would never feel the love we could have given them
- unlikely to come back and sit courtside at the delta center
- potential jersey retirement

The list goes on and on and on.

It’s a real shame cos he could have gotten all of that and more ….

Potentially a lifetime of praise and gratitude.

Nevermore… nevermore…

Can't stand the guy because I think a trio of Mitchell, Hayward and Gobert could have won a title but he had a solid career and made a crap load of money.
I will always wonder what GH could have done with DM and Gobert. I will pretend his injury would have never happened and the Jazz would have been contenders.

Where is @David Hume to interject some empirical sanity into this interlocution.
Karma is a metaphysical concept and from my perspective it is entirely unnecessary. It adds nothing of explanatory value, nor does it have predictive importance. It is untestable, because any occurrence in the future can be labelled as satisfying the conditions for yelling "karma." If no future observation can rule it out, it is decidedly unscientific. It adds nothing of value for those of us that take an empirical stance.

Given that his injury was a freak occurrence, it is a reasonable assumption to make.

That being said, his being here would have slowed DM's development, to say the least.

That would have probably been a good thing.

Keeps Don’s ego in check a bit.

Would have loved me a humble Don.

That isn't karma though, that is just normal human decency. It isn't even cause and effect because you cannot guarantee the effect. You can be nice as hell and still have the guy pull a gun on you. What would that be karma for?

You do know that karma is meant to be the cosmic response of the universe to good actions in life providing one with a better re-birth, as in reincarnation, right? It isn't even really meant to mean anything in the current life, mostly aimed at the hereafter.

Yeah but mother****ers who screw us Jazz fans get their karma early.

I have no animosity towards Hayward for leaving. I have animosity towards the FO that groveled over pennies (NBA version of pennies) which disrespected him and allowed him to move to what looked like a significantly better basketball situation.

It’s a shame Hayward, Mitchell, and Gobert never because a thing. It was a self inflicted wound by the FO.

What makes me feel better about everything that went down back in 2017 is that human brain is a wonderful, wonderful thing.

You can bet your house that Gordon Hayward's brain will ask him many, many times "What if I never left Utah?" And the only answer possible, of course, is "You never break your leg."

And that makes me smile.

I have wondered this but DM had an alpha mentality something GH never had. He would have eventually taken leadership away.

So many negative things said about Hayward. But why? What is exactly that he did wrong? He did not choose to be in Utah - 90% of players would not either - but was drafted by the Jazz. He played for the Jazz for two contracts. When he had the opportunity to play for the team in a location he liked more (and with the coach he liked more) he left. Is it what everybody else would do in his place? Have you never changed the jobs to be in a place/company you liked more? If you friend told you that he is changing jobs because he the career prospects are better there would you judge him and tell him to stick at his old company "because they gave you a chance 7 years ago with your first job"?

Also, yeah, he was quiet about moving to other company but who is not? Who is exactly running his mouth at work telling everybody that he is going to leave in a few months?

I really do not understand the amount of hate directed at Gordon. He did the same thing that most of us have also done and we never felt that we did anything wrong.
