Let me explain. My 2024 sports year has been absolutely ****** since spring. All the teams I root for have been destroyed by injury. First baseball my Braves all offseason have been one of the favorites to win a World Series have been absolutely decimated by injury with Ronald Acuna Jr. out for the season. Spencer Stryder went out for the season early, our star third baseman has been out for the last couple months our Starcatcher has been out for stretches our star second baseman Ozzy Albies just got back from the two month absence after breaking his hand two of our better relief pitchers are out for the season.

Then there’s football the 49ers have been pretty decimated early on with injuries. Christian McCaffrey has yet to play a game and who knows when he’ll be back he just went to Germany to see a specialist so that’s never a good thing Kittle is out Javon Hargrave got injured yesterday and is out for the season. Our star cornerback is out and now just heard that Brock Purdy hurt his back and his day to day. Then there’s my fantasy football team. My star running back is out Devo Samuel is out. Tyreek Hill is not hurt, but his quarterback is hurting. He knows when he’ll be back if ever. Najee Harris was seen after his game with a sling around his arm.

With all that said Lauri is screwed and probably some other dudes. Which will be good for our opportunities to draft flag so it’s not a complete loss. Lol

That’s my experience in a nutshell over the last four or five months

Chicho has been out for RSL at a pivotal time in the season. So that sucks.

Cam Rising can't use his throwing hand due to a cheap shot.

Still, the Utes and RSL are still competing which is great.

But right now, minor injuries that keep Lauri out would be a welcome thing for the Jazz. Finish with a top 3 pick in the draft should be goal #1 for the jazz. Lauri not being able to play due to an abductor strain or something silly could turn around the franchise so... let's hope we pull a Spurs with the admiral and get some key pieces.

My Steelers are 3-0.

Just sayin.

Jazz basketball hasnt been boring since the Al Jefferson era. I'm going to have a lot of fun watching the season. Sucks there will be no real stakes in regards to caring about individual game outcomes, but I'm excited to watch the players the Jazz have.
This plus college basketball should be pretty lit and there are a lot of guys you can imagine joining our group. There will likely be some annoying things this season but I'm ready to see Key, Taylor, Cody, Brice, Collier, Flip get time. Lauri is always a fun watch. Collins does some cool **** sometimes and Sexton is a maniac. Guessing we see more Svi/Juzang than we care for but it can't all be summer league guys.

I think we safely end up bottom 6.

At least with Svi/Juzang there is a chance once of them proves themselves as a legit player and we have them on incredibly team friendly deals.

For me, a big part of the enjoyment of the NBA is the day to day action. There's definitely a drop in entertainment when there are no stakes day to day.....but it's not unique to the Jazz who are tanking. It's really a league wide thing. Day to day competition is not what the NBA is about anymore whether you're a good, bad, or in between team. Everything is about big picture, which has it's own enjoyment, but it's different.

As long as sexton is healthy we won't be boring.

We are used to boring. It has become the hallmark of the AInge/Smith era.
No it’s not. It’s called rebuilding. What was truely boring was the last year of Mitchell and Gobert. If you’re dumb enough to think the Jazz could have a successful season the last two years then I guess it was boring to you, but if you’re pragmatic like me, you realize it’s not gonna happen and you just enjoy the rebuild. I look forward to every game that comes on.

The last year of Gobert/Mitchell was not boring at all. Was it disappointing? Yeah

To me boring is the Al Jefferson year. One, we had to watch Al Jefferson. Two, we never really had a great prospect during that time and a lot of our best players ended up being let go in favor of worse players.

Different strokes for different folks. If we are going to rebuild, do it. Dont mess around in the middle for 2 years (and now maybe 3). I still no reason to have traded both Mitchell and Gobert but I know I am alone in that perspective. BUT IF you are going to make that move, then blow it up, tank hard, and get after rebuilding. Don't wait until the trade deadline to rip the guts out of the team. This year looks like the same rodeo.

It's not for me, but I understand why some may enjoy no expectations. If there's something on the line and winning actually matters the potential is there for you to be disappointed. If all you want to do is lose, you win or you win.

Howard Beck nailed it when ranking the NBA teams for the coming year - Beck writes that the Jazz “might be the most confusing of all — a team that jettisoned its All-Stars (Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell) two years ago, isn’t good enough to make the playoffs, and isn’t bad enough to nab a high draft pick.”
