IMO, the rationale for keeping him is that you believe he has a chance to establish himself as a star. Having said that, it doesn't really seem the FO or coaching staff is very high on him. I think a lot of the league probably sees him as a 6th man and I would bet the Jazz are in that group based on his minutes/role.

If the Jazz only value him as a 6th man type and aren't even willing to give him the minutes/opportunity to prove he's more, they should have traded him already.

Yeah, but normally the Jazz hold out to get trade value back. At this point, I'm starting to think the Jazz would let go of Clarkson, Collins and maybe even Sexton fairly cheap.

Well, Clarkson and Collins would be gone if it didn't costs stuff to get rid of them.

If we keep Sexton around because Ainge wants to squeeze every bit of value possible (as he's done before) and not because we want to give him an opportunity to be more that is a mistake IMO.

I dont think the average fan realizes how much stars sit in Utah vs every other team in the league. Dont move the goalpost.
I tend to agree with you about the stars sitting thing but it would be nice to see some actual data/statistics.

Without those it's just a subjective "feels like" kinda thing.

It's not subjective. It's been objectively proven. No, I do not feel like finding the sources for you, but thank you for proving my point as you are a good representation of the average fan.

I've actually never seen anything about stars sitting more often, but the "why" doesn't matter so much. Long history of the Jazz having one of the better home court advantages due to elevation and travel. It would follow that players don't want to play here as much....just something that makes sense but I don't actually think there is any source on that. I think the biggest factor in teams resting players is simply that the other team sucks, so we'll have that on top of the elevation and travel stuff. None of these things are independent of each other.

But again, doesn't really matter why we have the big home court advantage, the fact is that we do have it and have always had it. To @fishonjazz 's point, JJJ has been out for some time. I don't think it is related to UTA whatsoever.

One of the fans that believes that teams rest their players more against us?
Cool cool

Gonna be fun watching Eddy’s debut. His preseason was a little hit and miss, but I think he’ll be pretty good with time. Biggest question will be his defense.

This is the closest thing I could find.

I'm not paying for a random subscription to a writer I don't know. So I wouldn't take the stats as infallible, especially without knowing what the average number of star DNP is.

My guess is that Edey will be a player that does really well when there's no game plan against him. I feel like a playoff series will be tough for him. Agreed that it will be fun to watch.

A. I don't consider jjj a star
B. If injured players don't play against the jazz I don't find anything out of the ordinary. Injured players also don't play against Boston.

Just checked his stats and was shocked to see his career high (6 seasons) in rebounds per game is 6.8.

personally i don't rate him too highly but he's won DPOY and made an all star team

Unfortunately I think Hendricks and Cody will both be on Snell watch this season. Hendricks will make more plays with his athleticism but have more cringy on ball moments.

I've been complaining to my wife about how long the off-season is for the NBA compared to European football leagues. I never understood why they don't just start the season in September and have fewer back-to-backs.
