Should Cody spend time in the G LEAGUE

Should Cody Williams get sent down to the Stars for a stint?

6 games in, per36 minutes:

PTS - 18.8
REB - 6.3
AST - 2.1
STL - 1.1
BLK - 0.8
TOV - 2.1
PF - 3.6

Shooting: 32/23/68
EFG - 36%
TS% (corrected) - 42%
the only number that even looks decent there is the points 18.8 is decent per 36 (let's pretend this isn't the g league for a second). the problem is, if you shoot enough, you are going to get points and that's where the shooting percentages are really the elephant in the room. 19 pts per 36 is fine, but abysmal numbers such as eFG of 36% and TS% of 42% - it's scary how bad that is.

I just checked the Gleage schedule and it looks like they play tonight then have a 15 day break??? Is that accurate? If so, why? Do the Jazz move Cody up at that time?

Who knows. They need to get him some confidence and then focus on making him nothing but a 3&D to get a clear, achievable goal.

I’m 50/50 that he should be with the Jazz because he’ll get more open 3s with the Jazz and he’ll be able to hone his defense against actual NBA players (while also probably making the team worse while he learns).

Praying he’ll give the Jazz reason (or at least cover) to call him back up by looking good tonight.

The GLeague has their own in season tournament. The schedule is not set, but each team is guaranteed to play at least two games (I assume more if they advance) at the Winter Classic Showcase which is the conclusion of the Tip-Off tournament.

Cody's 0-5 in the 1st half tonight. He's driving and ending up with running floaters, which aren't working. He has a couple of attempts closer to the rim, but one was a pretty tough reverse and the other was blocked. He as one 3PA.

He needs a pull-up jumper off the dribble instead of taking these floater things.

just an observation and i could be wrong, but the reason you never see him take pull up jumpers off the bounce is that stroke isn't really all that conducive to taking pull up jumpers off the bounce.

Right now Cody reminds me of a player from yesteryear Talvin Skinner who couldn't shoot to save his life but still managed a few years in the league by playing good defense. This is not high praise.

If Cody can’t ever get to the rim, he’s never going to be an NBA player. Being an off the dribble shooter is the hardest way to make a living in the NBA and he already sucks at shooting/release is slow as molasses to begin with.

The legendary Ray J Dennis looked like the best player on the floor. Collier played decently but I thought Dennis schooled him. I doubt Ray J becomes the next Lu Dort.

I am very against having the "Is he a bust" conversations about a rookie this early, but my God, Cody is testing that.

The only reason you're not seeing league-wide ”Cody Williams is a bust and Ainge is terrible” discussions is that nobody cares about the Jazz right now.

Danny Ainge must go.

Cody was a negative -26.... In a Gleague game the team lost by 2.....

It's very concerning when Babacar Sane looks more polished than our lottery pick

Almost nothing that Cody did in college has translated to the NBA so far. At Colorado, Cody was handling the ball. He was creating for teammates. He was beating guards off the dribble and scoring at the rim. His shooting volume wasn't high, but the efficiency was decent. Maybe it can be argued that Cody was a jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none type player, but it's difficult to point to something that he's doing at an NBA level right now, other than his defensive rotations and the making the occasional swing pass.

His handle's not good enough. His shooting is obviously not there. His physicality is bare minimum. I think the Jazz are going to give him the rest of this season and maybe half of next season. If there isn't marked improvement, they'll likely dump him.
Theres just no way he's this bad. It has to be mental at this point
