Trump Dictatorship and All Things Politics

He rubbed a lot of people wrong way by being way to bendy to leftist political correctness - for example changing national anthem lyrics to gender neutral, allowing muslim woman to take canadian citizenship oath in full face covering ( when some European countries banned it to be worn in public), being almost pathologically obsessed about climate "emergency" ( when Canada contributes to only about 1% of world emissions), focusing on his electorate in Eastern Canada ( like giving a tax break for people in those provinces for heating fuel) while ignoring Western provinces where he never had any seats won.
This sums it up as well if you want to read it.

Most governments tend to run out of steam after ten years. I just find the nature of the criticisms interesting painting him as a Canadian Jeremy Corbyn or something which as far as a new he was far from.

Alas they had no plan to destroy the system that creates the debts.
Or they had a plan but there were adversaries to that plan. Not only in government but many many voters dont want to change our healthcare system.

Close to a great line my friend, you should have said, "have you ever been to Queensland?" Its an entire state of people suffering from fetal alcohol syndrome.
Particularly far North Queensland. Never met such a bunch on consistently Neanderthalic people.

Oh, the Neanderphallicheads from the North? We have those from the South.
I seriously wish that at the end of the civil war all the slaves were emancipated and given transport north and then the Union said "Congratulations on you succession! Now go **** off." Then the U.S. leaves the confederacy to it's own misery without the economic benefit of slave labor. Other than New Orleans I can't think of a redeeming place in the southern U.S.. I'd be happier if they were not part of my country.

Right afterward they would have reached out to the slave traders to get in fresh batches of slaves from Africa.

There are good people everywhere of course but yeah the South largely sucks and has a high ratio of uneducated racist ****tards.

How dare you speak of true real America in such a manner. These good folks are forgotten economically anxious people. And if you don’t give them power, they’ll vote to repeal their own health care. Show them the respect they deserve.

I know some people think both parties are the same but im curious what would happen if Democrats played the same games republicans play if they threatened to withhold aid from red states? Imagine if Democratic leaders talked about ********* like Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, and West Virginia like they do California? Has anyone ever said the uhhh e going on vacation to Arkansas? Who here wants to live in North Dakota or Oklahoma? Boy, want a great job, come to Missouri! Ohio, so many working factories and so little substance abuse! The health care and education system in Alabama is top notch!

Isn’t it funny how red states are always victims while blue states must always be held accountable? Pretty cool political system we have when one party gets to indulge in insulting the majority of the country and its strongest economic and cultural centers and be rewarded by it politically. Why are Democrats always expected to act as the responsible adults while Republicans constantly get to be victims while acting like belligerent children?

Stewart makes this point fairly well:

The peace treaty would forbid it and the U.S. Navy would block it.
So in other words the civil war wouldn't end. I get what you're getting at and would support it but they already didn't go down without a fight, and the union states were already trying to move slaves north through means such as the underground railroad. It would have been tough to carry that out, especially considering things like where would they go, and what would they do, and the fact that racism existed in pretty heavy doses in the North as well. But it's a good thought, and interesting thought experiment.

Boy Jon really doesn't understand what it takes to build a fascist state. I mean, how else are they supposed to build fake outrage and "other" everyone else? Get real man. Welcome to fascism USA, Trump-style.

The world would likely be a MUCH worse place.

First, the US Civil War wasn't fought to free the slaves. That was a messaging pivot made following the Trent Affair to keep England out of the war. The US Civil War was fought to keep the south from seceding.

Second, the US ended up being the most powerful country in the world following WWI and WWII due to being mostly unscathed at a time when the rest of the world's industrial base and financial centers were rubble. That doesn't happen if the outcome of the UC Civil War was secession because the north and the south would have ended up on opposite sides causing the war on this side of the Atlantic.

World War One could have gone the other direction if the US didn't jump in when they did. If not for the US being what it was in 1940, there would have been no one to stop Imperial Japan from taking the areas of iron, rubber, and oil resources to become a superpower. If not for the US being the world's dominant superpower following WWII, there would have been no Pax Americana during the time the world developed atomic, and then nuclear, weapons.

Abraham Lincoln may have saved the entire world.

He was so obsessed about climate protection and refusal to build pipelines to east and west coast from Alberta. Now we stuck shipping oil to USA only and can't even cut oil supply as retaliation to orange turd tariffs as it would cut it from Ontario and Quebec ( two provinces which were most opposed to pipelines ). Had we had those pipelines done we could be showing orange turd middle finger and ship it to east or west of Canada to different markets easily.

Energy policy is should be the most important priority for any government. We've had 15 years of chaos and ridiculously high energy prices in a country rich is both fossil fuels and renewable energy but the conservatives have continued to destabilise the industry to keep climate change as an election issue. (They're also deep in the pocket of the miners.) They've driven investment from the market, allowed Australian natural gas to be sold overseas at rates that are a fraction of what it is sold at locally. (Dubai makes more money off tax on Australian gas than the ****ing Australian government!!!) There's even the prospect of power outages this summer due to the lack of natural gas available on the domestic market while we export shed loads to the middle east and Japan.
