Following Potential 2025 Draftees

Givony never wavered in calling Demin a lottery pick.

one thing they aren't seeing in these workouts is his ballhandling ability against real pressure - which was a major problem at BYU. also his shooting against real defenses - another problem at BYU. in fairness, the workouts also don't highlight his elite 5 on 5 passing/vision/playmaking ability either. but the ballhandling is a huge concern for Demin at that height. it's great that he's tall, but his handle has to be there.

I agree with all of this and I am a BYU fan.

I'm not sure how much performance vs greater opponents matters. Makes sense logically, but could also be a result of a prospect's own teammates and it also opens up more variation by cutting up the already small sample size. I saw some twitter bois trying to "prove" that it's a big statistical indicator and I was not convinced at all.

If it's something drastic like Demin, you gotta put that on notice.
I mean Demin kinda killed it in the tourney, if you figure those games matter. . .

His handle is a huge question mark for me. Against low level competition, he could get wherever he wanted and he looked dominant attacking the rim and passing out to shooters. But against real competition it looked like he was hanging on for dear life whenever they pressured him. I remember a time or two where he had to be subbed out because he couldn't dribble against the press at all.

Local Hornets reporters don't think that that the Hornets will take Ace Bailey.

Their reasoning

1. Terrible fit with LaMelo and Brandon Miller
2. FO has constantly promoted how much extremely high motor and high work ethic stuff matters to them (which Tre and VJ have demonstrated more regularly)

Us getting Ace at 5 could be the best case scenario for us. Might give him a chip on his shoulder and get that motor revving

From what little I saw, he's not a lead guard. Maybe a 2nd side creator.

His tourney stats fwiw: (not saying these stats are killing it or not killing just giving some data)
11.4 points per game on 42.6% from the field and 29.6% from 3
5.6 assists per game
4.6 Rebounds per game
2.0 Turnovers per game
1.0 steals per game
0.0 blocks per game
28.3 minutes per game

imo, if his potential is going to be maximized you want him to be the primary creator. at every level, he's always been a lead guard. why? he will nearly always be the best passer/playmaker on the floor - as such you want the ball in his hands as often as possible. everybody on the floor will be better if Demin is initiating.
