2025 Off-Season Trade Ideas Thread

How about this idea expanding on a few rumors:

To Spurs: Lauri, #7 from New Orleans
To Jazz: #2 from Spurs, Barnes, K.Johnson, 2026 FRP from Pels
To Pels: #5 from Jazz

Spurs acquire Lauri while moving down to #7. Jazz move to #2 to draft a potential star in Harper and add a '26 FRP to their warchest. Pels reportedly want to move up to draft Ace. They own 2 FRP's in 2026.
The Spurs would just cut the Pelicans out of the deal.

Any SA pick is going to be mid to lower first round. They should be giving a lot more than a #2 pick. Markkanen is the best offensive player on the Jazz. He had a bad year last year and still average close to 20 points. San Antonio does not really need Harper. They already have Castle and Fox.

The Mavs have basically no upcoming draft picks and have tons of money committed to old and aging stars and have a terrible coach, GM, and owner. The NBA has doomed the first great white American player to enter the league in several decades to spending his first 8 years on a bad team. They also have set up the Spurs (a team with a small fanbase) to win several championships. This was the worst rigging imaginable from the NBA's perspective. A good rigging probably sends Flagg to the Wizards to establish Washington DC as a big basketball city and the Wizards have interesting young players and assets to build around Flagg with.

Did the NBA rig the 2022 draft as well by having 2 of the 5 smallest franchises in the NBA (Orlando and OKC) the top two picks in a two player draft too.

Yes, the Mavs were so “bad” they made the NBA Finals last year.

Why in the world would the NBA rig the lottery for Dallas and San Antonio over Washington and Chicago.
Pretty sure you’re just a troll but I’ll bite. The league and ratings do well with elite teams and high-end rivalries. Think Spurs-Lakers 20 years ago or so.

We have nothing even close to that right now. They added Luka to LA so there’s potential for a year or two. They had to reward Dallas for doing so. They are adding Harper to the Spurs to build them into a contender while also providing them a stud player should Wemby’s health concerns be serious long-term.

Chicago hasn’t been relevant in about 20 years. Washington is the butt of jokes where players go to rot. I imagine the latter will get Edgecombe, ala, Vesely. Explosiveness. “Potential.” And he’ll suck for them because that’s the Wiz.

Why would the league want two studs rotting for **** franchises? It does nothing to further the sport and help it.
