He;ll change his tune if the Jazz signs his kids to guaranteed deals.Losing is not in that man's DNA.
I think he was saying the Jazz should be trying to build a winning culture and tanking doesn't do that.I’m not sure the jazz can compete unless they build through the draft with high draft picks. I mean we can’t seem to trade for a star and we sure as hell can’t sign them. Does Stockton say what he thinks they should do? Don’t have time to read the article.
Nor the DNA of his owners, his coaches, or Malone. It is what made them great.Losing is not in that man's DNA.
Sometimes you need to tear down to build back up bigger and better than before.I think he was saying the Jazz should be trying to build a winning culture and tanking doesn't do that.
I don’t know that I can speak for Stockton, as it sounds like these excerpts were very limited comments that likely were much expanded on (relative to your question), but I’d assume it wouldn’t be too far off to say something like, if you’ve just had the best record in the league, maybe not pivot to a mentality that you can just cash it all in for picks as the best way to build a contender. Especially considering that we’re currently not counting on a single asset from any of our trades to be a significant piece of a championship roster and instead are relying on our own picks that we’re continually tanking to improve (which isn’t working out to hot in the lottery).I’m not sure the jazz can compete unless they build through the draft with high draft picks. That's like... demonstrably false? The Stockton and Malone Jazz were not built with high draft picks, out of Deron, Boozer, Memo and AK only Deron was a high pick. Mitchell and Gobert were not high picks either.I’m not sure the jazz can compete unless they build through the draft with high draft picks. The Stockton Malone picks back to back is a once in a life time kind of win the lotto kind of thing. That doesn’t happen every day. That's like... demonstrably false? It's crazy the amount of injuries Stockton should've sat out for but didn't.
Had he and Malone took a season off, and the Jazz tanked they would've likely found a star that would've got them a ring.
Dr. Carlos Buhler from SLC was largely responsible for Stockton, Malone and Bill Romanowski's incredible durability.
"A 4-time Super Bowl champion, Bill Romanowski was a linebacker in the NFL for 16 seasons. He credits his chiropractor, Dr. Craig Buhler, with helping him avoid missing a single game throughout his career.
“I was able to keep the streak of 243 straight games in 16 seasons in the NFL. I was so amazed at what Dr. Buhler was able to do with my body and well-being that I recommended him to the Broncos, Raiders and to many high level multi-million dollar athletes.”
I know Romo and he told me about Dr. Buhler and how he met him through Stockton. He thought for sure he was going to miss a game after a sprained ankle in a game with the Bronco's but Dr. Buhler worked his magic. Romo met with Buhler every week in season, either flying to SLC or having him fly to SF/DEN.

So the question is which gap is more easily covered, the gap between where we were and contending or the gap between where we are now and contending. Because right now we have to lose in perpetuity until we can cover that gap, and it’s really our only option left to do so. So for me this is kind of like the Conley trade — it was absolutely the right thing to do in the moment. But we did (and didn’t do) a number of things before that, that we should have never been in the position to have that be our only option at that time.
