The Non-Jazz NBA Thread in the Jazz Section

Giannis has apparently started the convo of leaving Milwaukee... Time for some Ainge big game hunting?
I think we are going to lose our pick this season and are done tanking anyways so let's ****ing go? I guess?

why does everything have to funnel to the West?? Sheesh, Portland's prospects looking pretty good.
When you take a bunch of picks from another team, it's in your best interest for them to implode.

Wish the Jazz would've realized that back when they decided to give Conley and NAW to the Wolves for nothing.

All so they could keep their pick and draft Taylor Hendricks, instead of having it convey and not have to worry about losing their pick this year.

God dammit.

Milwaukee’s gonna need ANY hope the second they make the trade. The hope of distant tanking - and… Scoot? Sharpe? - ain’t gonna cut it.

I’m convinced it’s Atlanta or San Antonio. I don’t think OKC is a match.

sucks for Harper, if so. I don't know how MIL can put a reasonably good team around him.
They could clear some space and value hunt in FA for a couple years. If they don't have their own picks at least Harper isn't on a tanking team... but yeah.

It looks like this is who controls the MIL 1st round draft picks in upcoming drafts:

2026 - ATL
2027 - NOP
2028 - POR
2029- POR
2030-POR
2031-CHA
I believe they have their own 2031...Cha gets the second rounder.

So if they want to tank they need to talk with Portland I guess.

You don’t trade your best player since Kareem for the hope you can tank two, three, and four years down the road.

Ideally, they get a bunch of stuff from Atlanta that they can spin off to New Orleans for next years pick and they can have two years of tanking starting immediate to the trade.

And then maybe they’ll have a thing or two pop while they churn through guys that they can trade to Portland for their swap in ‘28?

TLDR; trading to tank years down the road is way too grim.

Utah could be in the position to consolidate some of the MIL draft capital in to one trade. For example Lauri to Portland for the picks that they own and Kessler to NOP for the picks that they own.

I'm not saying I would do that, but maybe MIL looks for a trade that can help them get some stuff back.

To HHs point, NOP is so bad that MIL can tank this year and still get a pretty good pick out of it, even if it's just the swap with NOP.
