What's new

Following Potential 2026 Draftees

Dominant college player, yes. He's in good company – Luka Garza, Tyler Hansbrough, Drew Timme, Adam Morrison and Christian Laettner were dominant too.

(I'll never stop posting about this stuff. It's the least I can do to prevent the Jazz from picking Boozer.)
Name the last freshman as dominant as Boozer who didn't have a good NBA career. You naming bunch of dudes who were upperclassmen and still not as good as Boozer

Michael Beasley
Beasley and Bagley were two lefty power forwards who could never adapt to the new NBA where 4's were supposed to provide floor spacing. They were all about getting to the basket and shooting from midrange.

Sure Bagley's still toiling away as a marginal role player, but he never became anywhere near the player he was supposed to be after being the second overall pick.

Fun fact: he's still just 26 years old.

There have been bigs who dominated in college and didn't succeed in the NBA--e.g, Jahlil Okafor, Thomas Robinson, Vernon Carey, etc. The difference with Boozer is that he can shoot and he has ball skills. He's skilled and complete enough that a team can play him from the perimeter similar to Towns. But like Towns, Boozer needs to be surrounded by long, athletic defenders, since people are going to get by him.

Beasley not translating was more about his mental. There was no physical limitation that prevented him from being a star
