What's new

Raul Neto : new spectacular talent

I don't know.. talk about Raul Neto, maybe?

This all began back on page ten in a post about love, hate, anger and suffering all in RELATION to Neto. Hotttnickkk has a right to his opinion and although he broke none of the forum's rules, someone was so offended by the post that he was called the "ultimate troll" for it. A couple of posts followed with religious tones but in direct RELATION to the Jazz's pg situation. Then all hell broke loose. It saddens me that if occasionally the Word pops up in relation to the topic at hand, some posters (and even a few Christians) pull the troll card and want the thread locked or even moved.

Matthew 21:12 - "Jesus entered the temple courts and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves."

I like Neto. Neto's nick name is Nutter Butter. He has nuts, and his game is smooth. The handle he has is something to watch and I love how he drives with his left.

The Word can pop up without consequence. However, when it completely changes the topic and it's only two people doing all the conversating... from an otherwise informative thread on a draft pick.. it's a derail... regardless the topic. Yes, religion, race, and a few other topics are 'hotter' than others.. but that doesn't somehow make it more right to interject into an intellectually irrelevant subject.

It didn't change the topic at all. It added a new perspective to it. The topic was still the Jazz, and still Neto.

I'm starting to understand why NAOS quit this forum... he made 1 off-topic comment and he got ripped apart.

I've apologized and apologized, and have said my peace, but if you want to keep on this crusade, I guess nobody can stop you.

Here comes the victim card. An apology is worth crap if you keep reciting biblical verses after you apologize. You started it and you can end it by talking about the Jazz draft picks instead of religion. If you want to quit the forum then that is your choice just own it and quit blaming other posters because they are offended by your nonsense.

Again go talk about your beliefs in the general forum and stop acting like you are being picked on for what you believe. Believe what you want but when you are in the Jazz forum leave God and religion out of the discussion. If you can't do it then just leave.

Maybe I missed something, but I didn't see Hotttnickkk breaking any rules, or even being disrespectful of others. I don't see any reason to invite him to leave. Also, what's wrong with Biblical verses? For over a year, I think, I used this as my sig: "A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger." -- Prov. 15:1

Agree. When the topic is stickied about a particular topic or person, it would be nice for the thread to stay on topic. While "The Word" or any other item can pop up, it's only inappropriate when that then becomes the entire conversation and those who want to talk about what the thread was intended for face page after page of "irrelevant" material.

colton, you know me as a religious guy. There's certainly nothing wrong with using that as your sig. And Hotttnickkk, sahlensguy and whoever else are welcome to talk about religion to their hearts content. But this thread was stickied to talk about Raul Neto. No rules were broken, but instead of a religious reference or two or the occasional joke, the thread was entirely hijacked. I guess I'm overly sensitive because it IS a stickied thread and we're still trying to talk about Raul, but have to scroll through post after post of a 2-person conversation about religion. Much more appropriate for those guys to take it to "The Longest Thread" in GD, create their own thread or PM each other. Maybe the solution is to sipmly "unsticky" this thread since it is no longer relevant to talking about Raul Neto, our draft pick. If there's any additional news about him, we can create a new thread.

He (kkk) was the one talking about leaving, I just told him if he wanted to leave then he should leave but stop acting as though he is a victim. Obviously, there is nothing wrong with bible verses if you are a believer in the bible. However, they have NOTHING to do with basketball. I am sure you wouldn't like it if I told you the bible is a mythological bunch of nonsense. I certainly don't like people insinuating that someone is going to hell if they don't believe in your beliefs. It just better to keep religion out of the Jazz basketball forum. What is so hard to understand? Not everyone feels a need to have some divine connection to basketball. It seems pretty simple to me.

I will just ignore the poster's who think this is a catchall for any topic and get back to talking about Neto. a kid who I think has a bunch of upside and I was excited about after finding out the Jazz drafted him. I hope he at least plays in the summer league to see how far away he is from being NBA ready. I think he is a lot closer than some people think.

Sounds reasonable on all fronts.

Raul Neto is in Orlando awaiting FIBA clearance to be able to participate in summer league, according to a source. He's been observing Jazz.

If Raul Neto is cleared to play this week, that doesn't necessarily mean he'll be with the Jazz this upcoming season.

I thought they would stash him away overseas for a year or two. Maybe they want to see if they want to bring him over now to fill in the back PG spot?

Great. Much rather see him come over than re-signing Tinsley. Has anybody talked about what kind of contract he has with his Euro team?

I like Neto. I'm fine with them bringing him over to fill a backup PG spot. I'd rather have the young guys working together instead of signing retreads or cast-offs. I'd be fine with Tinsley coming back, but Raul will cost a lot less for the next two seasons if they bring him over.
