Has our future position gotten better, worse, or stayed the same since trading Rudy/Donovan?

The problem with this is that even if we were to have landed Flagg and kept Lauri, great. We're now somewhere in some kind of playoff mix soon. But that's kind of it. It would have still required grabbing another guy next year with a high pick if we're really wanting to become legitimate...

I'm not sure that's anyone's argument. If it is, it's a minority and it's people who should be disregarded.

America, duh. It’s not the league who overseas it but Ernst & Young. The question is who the third party is that it’s outsourced to overseas. It’s a type of Temu drop-shop lottery.

We don’t really have any other options so unfortunately it’s the best way to play our hand. It doesn’t mean it will work, it just means that our options are so limited that it’s the only way forward.

Absolutely. That’s why I say emotion (the way the previous three years of postseasons had gone) clouded the judgement on being able to adequately appraise that.

Has our future position gotten better, worse, or stayed the same since trading Rudy/Donovan?

The question is simple. Compared to the VALUATION of where we thought our future would be with in total assets (from the trades or otherwise), have the prospects of our future valuations changed since the summer of 2022? If so, in which way?

That’s the decision I was referring to, not the decision to tank. The decision to tank was the best way we could play our hand. Trading away both guys wasn’t necessarily the best way we could have played that hand. That’s the part that I don’t think needs “revisiting” with the benefit of...

Agreed mostly. The only thing I'd nitpick is that "the decision to blow everything up in the first place should be reconsidered." I don't believe it takes hindsight to realize this now and if we weren't heavily stirred by emotion it was patently visible then.

I’ve said multiple times that most GMs who have success attribute it to whatever formula they think caused it and then repeat that. With Ainge things just kinda “fell from the sky.” That happened to him twice and assumed he could walk in here and do the same.

Maybe but sometimes we get too lost on trying to find a model, when the real answer is playing the hand you’re given to the best of your ability. Unfortunately for us, we traded away three years ago because it wasn’t a straight flush.

A big part of my frustration is that this outcome isn’t foreign. Even without belief in shadiness, the odds would still be stacked significantly against us. But we chose this path intentionally. It’s easier in those moments to pretend a situation we’re in is unlikely to happen, but it’s actually...

I alluded to this previously when I expressed doubt about getting the pick after being officially sanctioned by the league. I had mentioned that if all the teams that got official “sanctions” ended up moving back, that it would send a message and stop tanking. I don’t know if anyone else got...

You’ve also said that Epstein died by his own hand. There’s definitely a stigma associated with believing in a conspiracy and being associated with “teh stoopids” so much so that people gravitate to a form of hyperrationality.

If we got to the point where weren’t supporting a franchise, they’d be more than happy to oblige the move to a different market before thinking they needed to throw us a bone to keep afloat.
