IDK if it means the squeeze worked. I could see Walker taking a couple mill less from Indy to avoid Bkn and Wizards. Winning is important to him. But agree to your larger point... depends on if they want Walk or the Indy stuff more.
I think they were willing to move him for the LA package late...
Of course. Just don't think its a schedule win. its a coin toss. These are the games we should be absolutely shameless in. Svi/Lauri/Nurk... all managing Lauri's groin injury.
I guess from a human relationship level that its important to really try in this window. I agree his reps will know what's out there (for the most part) so they will have an advantage.
Indiana is the only place I think we get something real. They have enough contracts. The other scenarios may...
Think if you were a professional real estate investor and knew the market was going to double in two years... and you pass on a prime piece of RE under contract for 5/70M and then you get the same piece of RE for 4/64 and if things go well you lose one year of upside. Like... you might get fired...
Its a legit question but I think the reason people don't consider it is there are other choices in the real world... like resting Lauri. In a scenario where its one or the other I can see someone going either direction and I would likely lean towards moving Lauri.
It wasn't the max and the cap was literally about to double. Locking him in at 5/70 was a no brainer. Following that up the next year with telling him to go get his offer rather than working on a straight 4 year deal or 4+1 was a tragedy.
Unquestioned max would have been a 50% discount because...
I think they had a terrible cap guy in there. They had a few blunders that whoever that person was should share the blame with DL.
I think the Udoka pick may have been out of spite lol. Like eff you guys I'm out anyway. They should have and could override him if they wanted to. Bane or...
We blew it once the year before. We double blew it the second year when we could have locked him in for 5 years. They didn't understand the cap environment at all. It was a franchise altering blunder.
They don't have space the next year if the contract is longer. It also could have been two years longer... in which time we would have had Donny, Rudy, prime Haywoodz.
It also would have been at a lower AV as the deal fell apart when we wanted him to take Favs money but he wanted a couple mill...
Normally I'd agree but since we also played last night in Denver I think its offsetting schedule penalties?
Memphis is 3.5 pt favorites. I think its closer to even odds. I also think Lauri sits this one out. Wonder if they give anyone else the night off.
Maybe... a few guys have signed in that window. Naz Reid is the one I can think of but pretty sure there are a couple others. If it happens its likely because we were the best offer out there and the terms are acceptable.
If I was guessing... I think its like a 50% chance he is back. 35%...
For who?
I think Lauri played last night because he will be sitting tonight. Just a theory though. I wonder if they have Key rest too. He had a hand issue he kept messing with for a few games that I wonder if they can use.
I hate this season so much lol.
LOL... okay. The guy is not soft or moody. He wants to win. He hates what we are doing with the tank. He's competitive.
His game has holes. He's also an elite rim protector and good finisher and moves well for a giant. These players are more in than they have been in the last 15 years.
He...
I think the intent is really important though. I think you may not have to go extremely hard but make an offer he thinks is good enough that he won't get it on the market from a team he wants to play for. You might not say "hey this offer disappears in a week" but you might say here is what we...
All-in offers seems like they are dead tbh. If Giannis can't get teams to make an all-in offer who can (that would actually be available)?
I think it would be a Bane type offer and I just don't think that is more helpful in the FO view than Lauri.
I have the answer here. Pretty definitively. The contract issue is big... but not just that they didn't sign him but that they refused to negotiate. They would not even give him an idea of what they would offer if the cap space play wasn't available. Outside of that:
- The LA stuff is real...
They’ve had some disagreements throughout. I think if he gets paid and they start winning it would solve a lot of the stuff. He hates the tank. I have another contact I’m going to hit up when we get closer to free agency.
Really fun one. Some good tidbits but I’m not offering any spoilers.
@Tony Jones is still the best. Loves the Jazz fans.
Thanks to @Elizah Huge for also making it happen during a busy week.
