More than offense? Sure. But defense is skill, talent, strategy, and ability just like offense. The idea of motivating your way to a good defense is fantasy. Defense is abled to be played by less physically gifted players because defense requires high level thinking, and that becomes more true...
I've seen neutral parties say either side needs to send incentive. I actually think it's a pretty fair deal across. Just depends on how much WAS wants to preserve their tank and how much ATL wants to get rid of Trae (for cap space or bc he's annoying).
So Lauri is a good reference point for why I said Jalen could be overrated. I think Jalen should probably be considered in the same tier as Lauri. But Lauri is seen as a top 30ish player and not a top 15ish player. Obviously Jalen is still great, but I think his contributions are oversold.
Would not rule out a Trae Young run from the Wizards. He's not who he was, but he's better than CJ McCollum in terms of carrying a bad team. It's unlikely that the Jazz pass up any of the 5 teams on an individual basis, but if you took all the probability of passing just one of them I think...
Agree that Hardy's track record does not suggest he prefers or rewards good defense. He's the only coach I can remember who said out loud that he didn't prioritize defense. But I also don't believe this idea of "rewarding" and "punishing" is a real solution. I think he needs to be stronger...
On paper we’re significantly worse than the teams directly behind us. We’re 12-23, but it’s a 12-23 held up by great clutch performance. The game isn’t played on paper but that’s why models are predicting LAC, CHO, and DAL to be comfortably behind us.
Things can change with injuries/teams going...
All projection models seem to have it as a 6 way race to the bottom, I tend to agree. LAC, DAL, and CHO seem to be better teams trending in a different direction.
I think 6th is reasonable. A lot of the models are expecting BKN to be a tad better than us, but they don't account for tank...
The Love minutes are like the infinity gauntlet of bad defenders lol. I'm just extra sensitive to this because some people seem to think that Love is the root of all problems.
EDIT: Most common teammates:
Yeah it will be very easy to price them out. I think a few of us were ready to break the bank on Braun. I don't think Watson is much different in quality.
You could do the math on it, but I'm not sure if you put 350 average defensive C minutes instead of love that's moving the needle a ton. When you look at who shares the court most with Love, you'll realize that Love isn't the only problem in the Love minutes and the larger issue with the team is...
Peyton Watson averaging 23/6 since Jokic went down. Somebody has to get the stats, so this isn't meant to say he's going to be a star....but I think it's good evidence to say that he won't completely fall off away from Jokic,
