What's new

1280 zone NOW!

********. Bringing two of the young guys off the bench allowed all 5 young players to get lots of shots and overall (on-ball) offensive responsibility (been over this before; this is the first time in decades that a team had 5 players under the age of 24 who all averaged 10+ field goal attempts per game). That, and lineups matter.

I agree that Burks should have played more minutes this year, and Kanter should have played more minutes last year. Other than that, Corbin did a pretty decent job with lineups and playing time this season. His real failure was getting the team to play adequate defense.

Both Marvin and RJ got more minutes per game than Kanter and Burks, and I'm pretty sure there were games when one or the other led the team in minutes played for a particular game -- that should never have happened. It prevented other guys on the bench from getting minutes and I don't mean just Kanter and Burks. That was seriously stupid considering that we're supposed to be building for the future.

Agree. Could have shifted Marvin to SF and opened up time for Gobert (i.e. Favors plays more time at PF). Could have given some mins to Clark; why was he even signed after his summer league performance. Did Corbin like the way he could hold pom-poms?

RJ could have averaged 30 pts/per and it wouldn't have mattered. Playing RJ benefited no one EXCEPT RJ. Not going to be here next season = not in the long-term interest of Utah = minimal playing time.

I do place some of the blame on Lindsey. He could have convinced Greg to release RJ at the deadline. RJ either is claimed by another team and that team pays his 2nd-half salary, or he is claimed on waivers and they pay the minimum. I know the Jazz hate to eat salaries (refer back to Raja), but it would have forced Corbin to play the core-5 together before the last 5 games of the year. What did they have in total, something like 213 minutes?

Per game ... I didn't look up that stats. But it seemed to me that they were getting more minutes. When Marvin was healthy he was getting the most minutes of the four, for sure.

You should have looked them up then.

Per Game Avg:
Burks 28.2 MPG
Jefferson 27 MPG
Kanter 26.7 MPG
Marvin 25.4 MPG

So you can see Burks got the most minutes of the 4 and Kanter was only .3 MPG less than Jefferson and more than Marvin.
