14th Tank Platoon

It will be interesting to see how they share the ball in Sacto. Thomas dominates the ball, Mclemore and Gay are volume shooters, and Cousins is going to demand touches.

Also interesting what the Kings will do at back-up a pg. Jimmer has only played 72 minutes in 6 games this season, the other pg is rookie Ray McCallum out of Detroit who has played in only 1 game.

I kind of think they will do another trade to address pg. I suspect Jimmer will be moving soon....do you think the Kings like John Lucas?

I hear that the Kings have petitioned the NBA to add more balls to a game now since they acquired Gay............

So happy for the tank right now. We have no competition in the west, and the east teams haven't started playing each other a tom yet. We might win the rank award yet!

You're overrating Rudy Gay.

Sacto still a huge player in the tank.

I look at it as the complete opposite. Gay was having a bad year for Toronto. His shooting percentage has been horrible. Now they get a couple of decent players in Vasquez and Patterson. Gay's scoring should be easily replaced by others at a likely increased efficiency. As for Sacramento, who knows? Perhaps the change of scenery resurrects Gay's game. It's a big and EXPENSIVE gamble by the Kings. Perhaps the trade will be good for both teams.

I like your sig. Safari for Jabari is strooooong!
But like most on this board you really have dark horses that you judge without any sense of judgement. I think Toronto's coach isn't doing good which presented a lot of problems for their offense. Wiith the quality of their offense at wing they should have gotten Valanciunas and Amir Johnson more easy drop offs. Gay also is instantly Sacramento's best defender, while being the 3rd option on that team which should help his offense which has been ailing. Part of his very low efficiency obviously is that opposite teams have him as their focus. So the coach really has to get to him to take good looks and in Sacramento having 2 guys who played better offensively in front in the pecking order will certainly help.

Rumor is that Coach Malone will use Rudy Gay as a stretch 4....

Read that too but I think if that's what happens then the Kings don't care about winning the next few years. That means they wanna reconcile with their fanbase(in case there is one) by having a fast paced team that has a chance to win on most nights and will fail (not surprisingly) often at it down the stretch.
The Derrick Williams trade already made not a lot of sense, now having Williams and Gay and Landry and Jason Thompson crowd the PF position makes me wonder...
But they also published some Derrick Williams at SF nonsense. Now I don't watch the Kings at all since they play too late at night for me and are horrible to watch but I doubt they'd do such things.

tldr:
-Gay plays SF, he'll help them improve defensively on the wing
-he has a chance to become more efficient -> better coach and lower usage 3rd option aka less focus of opposite defenses

sidenote: Greivis Vasquez has totaled 0.0 DWS through 18 games.

Sacto didn't acquire Gay with the INTENTION of losing games. It might turn out that they will, but this is an obvious sign that they are trying to win.

True. I guess in that sense they definetely arent tanking.

My point was just that Rudy Gay does not play a winning style of basketball, but yeah you don't take on that type of contract to intentionally lose.

.... unless they're thinking about next year when they get Randle to pair with Cousins. This could be a "sick" lineup for them next year:

Cousins
Randle
Gay
McLemore
Thomas

Athletic. Rebounds. Finish. Dunks. Shooting.

Toronto joining the tank.

Word is they are looking to trade their starting pg Kyle Lowry.

New Raptors front-office boss Masai Ujiri has managed to trade away Andrea Bargnani and now Gay over the past six months to create financial flexibility going forward and -- with Toronto apparently determined to avoid any accidental success in the Atlantic Division -- is said to be happy to surrender veteran point guard Kyle Lowry next. The priority in Toronto is clearly finishing as high as possible in the lottery with Canadian sensation Andrew Wiggins and several other top prospects expected to be available to teams picking at the top of the June draft. Lowry is in the final year of his contact at an affordable $6.2 million and believed to be eminently available because he's not part of Toronto's future plans. ESPN.com

This is good for Utah's tank. Just one more team that will suck it out with the East. Crabs in bucket out east while Utah just enjoys the hardest schedule while being unnoticed and unmentioned. Perfect.
