2011 Draft - Who don't you want?

Given the players that have been projected at or around 3 over the last 2 months, who would you kill KOC for taking there? Who at 12?

For me (AT 3), I want no part of:

  • Vesely (looks very awkward on his drives, poor FT shooter)
  • Leonard (a few days ago I thought he was 6th-pick-worthy, now I don't think he is top 10 material, not buying his "elite" athleticism and ability to be a lockdown defender, esp. now given combine athletic tests, think Singleton outdoes him in most aspects)
  • Valanciunas (just overall not impressed, puts up good stats, but eyeball test doesn't pass for me)

Meaning I'm ecstatic-to-ok with Irving, Williams, Kanter, Knight, Walker, heck, I can even understand a BIG reach for Biyombo.

At 12, KOC better stay away from:

  • Marcus (and esp. Markieff) Morris (small PF's, bad length)
  • Faried (another Millsap when we are already jammed at the position)
  • Any of the other SF's if Singleton is still on the board

#3 Just say no list
Leonard, no vertical. Unproven shooter.
Knight, SG in PG body.
Walker, tiny, no 3 point shot.
Vesely, athlete with no bankable skills to actually play SF. 21 years old
Biyombo, no offense takes him out of the equation at #3

12 Just say no list
Clay Thompson, just get selfish Mo Almond vibes from him so like Hayward at SG
Markhief Morris, finesse PF have no need for him

Right before the Jazz pick was announced last year, I said, "As long as they don't pick Gordon Hayward, it won't be an awful pick." In that light, as long as they don't pick,

Williams
Kantor
Knight
Irving

It won't be an awful pick. Here is to hoping.

At #3 I say no to anyone who ISN'T Irving, Williams, Kanter, Knight and maybe Walker. That doesn't mean I love them all, but they are the only players who should be in the discussion at #3 (which is to say they should be in the discussion from #5 to #8 in any other draft). I might eventually say no to some of them as well.

Honestly I'm not sure yet about #12 so I will abstain for the time being.

@3 - No to Knight, Walker and anyone not Irving, Williams, or Kanter.
@12 - No to Morris's, and anyone not Singleton, Biyombo, Knight, Jimmer, or Brooks

Mother****ing this.

Yeah, we would hate to have a Dirk, M Gasol, P Gasol type player. That would really suck. Seriously with what Dirk is doing in these playoffs you just say a blank no to any Euro. I am sure you would have done the same thing to Dirk or the Gasols.

I wouldn't take Pau Gasol for Raja Bell.

Pau Gasol and Boozer might be the softest bigmen in league history.

Marc and Dirk however, kick ***.

However, you cannot ignore the fact that many foreigners have fallen flat on their faces. AK, Darko, Fess, Radmo, Wang XuXu, Yao, Thiago Splitter, and Raul Lopez all come to mind. Some struggled with the culture. Some struggled with the speed. Some were never scouted properly. And some didn't have the durability to survive a full fledged kick *** physical grueling American 82 game season.

I have no idea how you are putting over half these people on this list. AK has had a good career. picked 19th or something, Darko ok player but of course should have never been picked 2nd. Fes 2nd round pick. Yao had many good years, Splitter just finished his first year (Popovich should have played him more), Raul was a fine player for us (injury could have happened to him in Europe just as easily). How did that Kwame Brown going first thing work out. Asik was a second round pick and has shown he is a tough guy. Obviously, each player should be judged on his own merits and not by where they are from.

Pau Gasol . . . might be the softest bigmen in league history.

Wow, really? Before Pau got there, the Fakers were perennial 2nd round losers. After he arrives? Two titles and one other finals appearance.

I find this kind of thinking incredibly curious.
