2011 draft.....

Biyombo has just made this draft a whole lot better, he is worth a look. An athletic Ben Wallace? Yes please. If the Jazz want to build around a defensive front line this us the year to get it done. Favors at center, Biyombo at PF, and Millsap at SF.
 
One other thing I like about Biyombo (after my 30 min of youtube) is that while he has the standing reach and leaping ability to play minutes at C, he has a low enough center of gravity that he should be able to play PnR defense on the perimeter pretty effectively. Well, basically he has everything you want in a defensive big, IMO. With a 12' jumper and 3 or 4 post moves... bam.

If the Jazz could get a player who is truly devoted to defense and rebounding (and is good at it), it would free up players like Favors, Millsap, and Jefferson to roam, get out on the break, and do their damage. It would free up our other bigs. You notice other championship teams have done this. Hakeem was freed up because he had Otis Thorpe playing in the key. Tim Duncan has freedom to operate because the Spurs always bring in someone like Kurt Thomas, Dajuan Blair or Antonio McDyess to focus on paint work. Ben Wallace made a huge difference for the Pistons, even though he was a liability on offense. This Biyombo guy could be like a Ben Wallace who's actually a bit quicker and has a bit more offensive ability.
 
...But he question is whether this Biyombo guy is better than Kanter and Vallanciuns. The Jazz would need to see those three in a workout.

All are great prospects, but Biyombo has the most potential if you want to go on length and athleticism. He is basically Jeremy Evans with 30 more pounds of muscle.
 
Since the Jazz will be awful this next year as well, here is the plan:

Draft Nolan Smith and Alec Burks this year. We then go out and continue being one of the worst teams in basketball and that leaves us #1 and 8-9 pick in the draft. We draft Rivers at SG and a C with #1 and #8-9. In three to four years our team looks like this:

PG - Smith 15 and 8. Harris 10 and 4
SG - Rivers 25 ppg. Burks 10
SF - Hayward 15 and 8 rebs. Evans 10 and 2 stls and 1 blk
PF - Favors 20 and 10 and 2 blks. Millsap 10 and 8
C - someone to take Jefferson's place. 10 and 10. Tomic 10 and 6.

NBA Finals!
 
Questions of Biyombo's age and experience-level are significant ones. He's going to need to adapt his game plenty for the league and that will require some headroom, so to speak. If he's 25 and not new to the game, then it could be trouble for whatever team drafts him.

However, holy **** he looks awesome. His fingers are almost touching his knees, he appears to have a strong frame, and he gets UP when he wants. And he appears to have some smarts and an aggressive mentality.

First of all, if the Jazz can get Derrick Williams, Kyrie Irving, or (maybe) Harrison Barnes, they'd better do it.

If they can get Enes Kanter, Brandon Knight, Vallanciunus, Terrence Jones, or possibly Perry Jones (depending on his mental game), they should do that too. BTW Vallanciunus is closer to Pau Gasol than Tomic is.

Nolan Smith and Burks? I'm not sure about that.

Also Austin Rivers is supposed to be that good?
