What's new

2011 draft.....

By the way, if anyone wants to see a few lottery picks in action, Harrison Barnes and John Henson from UNC are on ESPN right now in a game against FSU.

Agreed. If Utah lands the #1 pick, there's no reason not to trade down to the #2 or #3 spot. This team needs a wing that can score, and if Irving is the favorite at #1, Utah could get the wing they need plus a little something else from whatever wants Irving the most.

And what wing would that be? Looking at the teams likely to be at 2 and 3, you have Cleveland, who has nothing, Washington has Nick Young, who is a definite pass, people seem to like Wesley Johnson, but he can't play the two as far as I'm aware, and I think the Jazz would want to be more athletic at that position, Kings have nothing, Toronto has nothing. Jazz should want nothing of Hamilton after his escapades.

I'm talking about drafting a wing, not getting one from another team. Trade down and still get a Harrison Barnes or Derrick Williams. They don't have GREAT players to offer for the pick swap, but on the off chance Utah lands the #1 pick, why not leverage it for something?

Also, Harrison Barnes just hit a game winner against FSU.

Jazz are in good shape for next year.
They may have two lottery picks.
Don't need the top pick to get what they need.
Have a very tradeable asset in Millsap.
Got two starters for Deron.
Have some cap room to sign FAs.

Kosta Koufos and Kanter have something in common they were both Euro U-18 MVP's. ahah

I guess I'll remain skeptical till i see more stuff form this guy.

I will too. I watched his youtube highlights last night and he reminded me of KoKo Beware. No way we should take this stiff.

I hope this is just smokescreen being put up by KOC... From the way the team is set up for next year we don't need another project center but quality wings who can shoot.

More than anything we need a guy who will fit in. Fit in in SLC. Fit in in the system. Fit in with our "culture" that is.

The problem is there isn't a clear-cut best wing out there. There are a lot of PFs and hybrid Fs, but really no elite pure wings. Terrence Jones or Harrison Barnes are the closest thing. But for my part, I think Derrick Williams would be fantastic. Partially because I'm of the school of thought that the team that plays smarter and harder will usually win, and Williams is a brilliant scorer with a great potential to exploit matchups. Pairing him with Favors would be awesome.

I'd take Irving with the #1 pick assuming he comes back from this toe-injury (those can be a HUGE pain in the ***), but if the Jazz can trade down and get something really nice on top of a Williams, Jones, or Barnes, then they might want to go that route. The key is Favors, here, and I think he'd gel best with Williams or Irving.

Wrong. Draft Irving, and trade Harris in-season or thereafter. Irving looks to be a stud. Harris is just a solid point guard.

There's a chance Irving is the rich-man's (better shooter, better body) pre-injury Chris Paul. That's a chance I'd be willing to take.

But I'm trying not to get ahead of myself here. A lot can happen in 20+ games and three months.

I'm guaranteeing you that Kosta Doufos only can dream of being as good as Enes. His fundamental knowledge, bbIQ, post moves, tremendous rebounding abilitiy makes him a top3 prospect IMO. The only reason why he has fallen to 6th-7th picks in mocks is what happened between bi**h Callipari and NCAA. Enes does not need Wildcats, they need him badly.
