What's new

2011 draft.....

Jazz are in good shape for next year.
They may have two lottery picks.
Don't need the top pick to get what they need.
Have a very tradeable asset in Millsap.
Got two starters for Deron.
Have some cap room to sign FAs.

Good post with creative formatting. I'm trying to ascertain whether or not this is some sort of semi-haiku.

My top 4 for the Jazz are currently:

1. Irving (no bust potential, amazing shot and iq, will be better than Wall)
2. Williams (amazing efficiency and finishing ability but he is a borderline tweener if he can't play SF)
3. Jones (Incredible rebounding and defending SF, has three point range and can create his own shot, IQ questionable)
4. Barnes (good kid, underwhelming first year but clutch performer as of late)

One of these guys will surely be on the board where the Jazz pick! That is enough to get me excited.

Just say no's:

Any international player, the last overseas pick of all star quality was Yao Ming in 2002. Nuff said.
Perry Jones - a 6'11 forward that averages 4.3 rebounds? Screams laziness. Pass
Jared Sullinger - has Millsap+ potential but one undersized PF is enough

Kyrie Irving won't even declare unless he is guaranteed the #1 pick, possibly #2. Makes me wonder how big his head is. He could just sit out if Jazz get the lucky draw, or tell them he won't play in Utah if the #2 is an intriguing city.

LOL. Trust me, this kid doesn't have a big head. Listen to some of his interviews. He's one of the most level-headed players I've heard at any level for his talent level.

And to people saying to pass on Irving because we have Harris.....wtf? Watch some videos of Irving. Seriously, he was unstoppable at college and not just on offense, he played GREAT defense. He shut down Jacob Pullen of Kansas State. This kid is a bonafide stud, and will at minimum be on the same level of Chris Paul. You don't pass on that.

Not to jinx us because I know there's a lot of ball left to be played and I also know the lotto balls can go against us, thus shoving us down the rung, but I just saw that we look like the Nets will have the 6th worst record in the league, AT BEST.

They have 17 wins and the next best team has 22. Add in the fact that the Raptors also have have 17 wins and are a half game behind and that there are three other teams with 15 wins (Washington, Sacramento, Minnesota), and we look in great shape right now. I've looked at the Nets schedule and realize it's pretty damn easy from here on out but still, I love where we stand at this point. Hopefully the Raptors can win both in London (they have a lot of foreigners so maybe they'll be stoked) and one or two other teams with 15 wins currently can get hot.

Also, of the teams ahead of us, the Wiz wouldn't want/need Irving. Would the Kings? Wouldn't that screw up Evans and their dynamic there? Would the TWolves knowing they still have Flynn and Rubio potentially coming over? In other words, which teams ahead of us seem like they'd want Irving and wouldn't look to trade down with us if we wanted to trade up to get him?

The Cavs have said they want him so that much we know but beyond that, who else? Maybe the Raptors? And that's about it I think. No?

Don't count Detroit out just yet. They lost to Minnesota last night and may not win another game this season. The Nets are horrible, but Williams might be enough for 6 more wins. We'll see.

If I were a GM with the #1 pick and Irving was the only solid player then there's no way I would trade down. Gambling on Harrison Barnes isn't worth the job risk at this point. I think most GM's around the league take the best player available instead of drafting position. Detroit taking Darko should be example enough of why.

As for the Jazz, they should take the most talented player and forget this Great Wing Dream. If it's a wing then great. If it's a guy like DeMarcus Cousins then take him and trade him if you must. Young bigs who can play and have tons of upside are valuable anchors. You could get a lot of wing for Cousins' breasts and thighs.

I co-sign any and all saying you don't pass on Irving.

Listen, I like Harris. I think he fits well, I like his penetration, hustle and attitude. But you don't EVER pass on a chance to pair your budding star/freak athlete big man with an elite/lighting quick PG. If Harris is a casuality then so be it, like I said before you then have a very attactive piece to get a wing. Devin Harris is one of the few pieces we have that would bring a quality wing back in a trade anyway.

Again, as I've said before, I'd keep Harris for the first season anyway instead of handing the keys over to a rookie PG anyway.

Every single NBA GM would cream themselves at the thought of having a Favors/Irving pairing for the future of their team. Favors/Barnes and filler? Ehh, not so much.

Did anyone see that Clutch shot by Harrison Barnes last night? Kid would be awesome here.

Yes, great shot. Still pretty low FG%, but is starting to show his potential. Have Duke game, then ACC t't and NCAA t't to check him out. Sure koc and scouts will be watching closely.
