What's new

2011 draft.....

That's funny. Let me start over. Andre Miller can't shoot. He's a terrible shooter and always has been. I was saying if Andre Miller - in his youth and/or prime - had a jumpshot, that's a VERY good player. Shooting has been the bane of his existence. But I'm still a little confused. What about Irving says Andre Miller to you? That they don't have the same build, don't play the same game, and one can shoot and one can't? Of all the comparisons you could come to, how did THAT one come to mind?

No, let me start over, my apologies. Their build (it actually is similar: both around 6'2", wide shouldered/solid), demeanor/makeup and even how both of them talk remind me of each other. I see Kyrie putting up similar stats to AM throughout his career, that's it. I should have clarified.

Now, you seem to be willing to transfer a sample size of 11 games directly over to Kyrie's NBA career, one for one. Meaning in those 11 games his very high shooting percentages will transfer directly to the NBA and when we look back 10 years from now, low and behold 46% from 3 and 53% from the field. I'm not as confident that will be reality.

Man, Cleveland is sitting pretty. If they take Williams/Kantor #1, they will end up with Irving/Knight at #4. Good for them.

From Chad Ford's Twitter:

Turkey's Enes Kanter measured out well. 6' 9.75" in socks and 6' 11.25" in shoes with a good 7' 1.5" wing and a 9' 1.5" standing reach

Derrick Williams was 6' 7.25" in socks and 6' 8.75" in shoes. He had a 7' 1.25" wingspan and a 9' 0" standing reach.

Got measurements from the draft combine. Kyrie Irving was 6' 1.75" in socks and 6' 3.5" in shoes with a 6' 4" wingspan. But 10.3 body fat

I love that they measure them with and without shoes. As if they are going play without shoes on at some point.

Knight is taller, bigger, and younger.

17 pts, 4 rebs, 4 assists, 3.2 to, 1.33 as/to, 0.7 stl, 42% fg, 37% 3pt, 80% ft, 1.28 pps
17 pts, 3 rebs, 4 assists, 2.5 to, 1.74 as/to, 1.5 stl, 53% fg, 46% 3pt, 90% ft, 1.85 pps

Other than shooting percentages, they are essentially the same player. I wonder what Irving's shooting percentages would be if he played a whole season (for example, the ACC schedule instead of a weaker OOC schedule). I don't know. I am not as sold on Irving as everyone else.

According to stats, he isn't a better playmaker, passer, ball handler. All Irving has is a better shooter. And Irving put his amazing stats against much, much weaker competition. If I am Cleveland, I definitely take Williams #1 and Knight #4.

Why is Irving so much better than Knight?

See if you had actually seen them play, you would realize this is a stupid question. You can't go just by stats. I mean, Irving got to the line at will against a team like Michigan State which is known for their tough defense. Irving shut down a senior guard in Jacob Pullen (Kansas State) who was known for his offense.

Irving has better speed, better control of his body, and apparently is about the same height as Knight with a slightly smaller wingspan. Look at the tapes, Irving is a better player. I'm not saying Knight is bad, because he isn't.....but Irving is much better.

And to add to the thoughts above, Andre Miller with a jump shot would have been one hell of a player and not too many people would've passed on him.

It seems like Kanter can play Center for us.
I was worried about him being too short, but 6'11 in shoes is tall enough right?

We replace Memo with Kanter.

Big Al/Sap are the 4s. Favors and Kanter the 5s. DAMN! What a nice group of bigs.

Draft Singleton to replace AK....I'm loving the roster next year. Loving it.

Kanter and Singleton. Get it done KOC

Wow, Kanter really doesn't want to play for the Jazz. He blew off an interview with the Jazz today at the combine according to Andy Katz.
