What's new

2011 draft.....

If you have watched him play, you would know he is NOT as athletic as people made him out to be. Some ESPN talk show host named Jason Smith said he sees Derrick Williams as a more athletic Chris Webber, which is insane considered Webber was a freak, physically and athletically.

He was constantly having problems getting his shot off down low in the video Locke shared. I don't know if the opposition was primarily matching up PFs against him or what. I am less convinced that he is going to be a good player. Maybe he still will be and the video was just showing some of his lesser moments. I saw the Duke/AZ game in the tourney and was pretty high on him.

That's not athletic?

Locke showed a 10 minute clip from a couple games...how many Wow plays are you going to find in two games?

Not a lot. But with anyone in this draft, there are still a lot of questions. What happens if Williams ends up not being able to play the 3 effectively? Or he shows a lack of motivation like he has in games past. He is by no means the only question mark in this draft. But he does have a few things that make you cringe a bit. Now saying this he will probably end up being the ROY and an AS. LOL

There's more to being "athletic" than doing sprints and lane slides. You gotta watch the games. How does he move on the court, etc. He looked pretty damn athletic in those clips Krazy posted.

Exactly, so those highlight clips are not good enough proof that he was athletic. He reminds me of Beasley who was supposed to be very athletic but turned out to be only above average. Not a knock on Williams by any means. I think he would be terrific but with more skills than athleticism.

I've been high on Kanter and Williams for the Jazz, but I won't be upset if the Jazz end up with Knight. I think Knight will be a very solid player in the NBA, and has some All-Star potential.

KOC said he has like 90 tapes on each player. If he is confident enough to pick him then I will not bash Sir Knight further. However, they better trade down with Washington then because Cleveland certainly is not taking Knight with Irving, and Toronto needs a center not named Bargs. They probably dream about pairing up Kanter at PF with McGee at center. I think we could fleece them out of Jordan Crawford or their 2012 pick (top 5 protected). Anyone agree?

EDIT: Just saw Washington has #18, would take that as well.

I would trade down, but im almost certain they want knight. Their fan boards want knight. Toronto needs alot and a great young point is a sure thing. I dont think you can trade any further down than 5 and getbknight. Kemba will be there at 6 though, but i dont think he solves anything for us.

I got the impression replacing Bargs at center is their #1 priority. He can't rebound or block a shot, and 220 lb Ed Davis won't be playing center any time soon either. I guess it would come down to if there is any player other than Knight at 6 Utah likes (Jonas, Bismack?) in case the plan went awry.

The Cleveland Cavaliers held a draft workout on Monday that included Tobias Harris, Marcus Morris, Jordan Williams, Chris Singleton, Cory Joseph and Diante Garrett. Harris was matched up against Williams, Morris went up against Singleton, and Joseph matched up with Garrett. According to a source, Morris was the most impressive player in the workout. The source said that Morris really tore it up and Singleton didn't look good at all. The source also said that Garrett got the best of Joseph. The Harris-Williams matchup wasn't an ideal pairing, as Harris is more of a combo forward and Williams is a true post player.

Singleton's lock down defense was no match for the likes of Marcus Morris. Is Morris an elite NBA wing? I don't know about that but I'm now totally off the Singleton bandwagon. If Marcus Morris really can play the 3 I'd go for him before Singleton.

Not sure if this really matters, but I think Beasley is lazy headcase. Williams? Sounds like he's pretty solid.

Also, Beasley has played for some pretty crappy systems. In Miami? Stand and watch Wade go 1 on 5. Minny? Ummm is there even a system there?

had Beasley been drafted by the Jazz, Spurs, or Lakers, perhaps his career would have been different?

Just a few thoughts...
