I think Vesley is an intriguing prospect. If his ceiling is an AK clone who has a harder work eithic and more of an edge, that's a damn good player.

But if the Jazz draft him at #3 I'll be beside myself. Wouldn't object to them trading down to #6-8 to get him (though I'd still rather see them just get what's leftover of Irving/Williams/Kanter) if they got some good assets, or trading up from #12. But at #3, ugh.
 
Even though I would hate drafting Vesely, he would be exciting player to have in terms of HPG (Highlights per game).
 
Vesely is one of the few top prospects (certainly not Knight/Kanter) who can provide near elite size/athleticism at their position.

By the way, did anybody hear R. Rigby on Locke's interview today hinting that the Jazz are getting close to narrowing things down to a single prospect and that this week should enable them to perhaps come close to cementing things? If he's not blowing smoke, it sound like Knight may not be that person.
 
Vesely is elite in terms of his hops and ability to run the floor, but can he stay in front of your everyday NBA SF?

Well, if they don't believe Kanter is going to be a top center, then Vesely is very interesting. Sounds like he's a good defender. If he truly can guard the 3, can you imagine a lineup of Favors-Jefferson-Vesely-Hayward-Harris. That's a tremendous size advantage most nights at the 2/3/4 and a very good low post guy in Jefferson. Harris at 6'3" ain't exactly small, either.

KOC drafted Hayward because of the mismatches he'd create. I think he'll certainly take a good look at Vesely. Maybe he could swing a deal with Washington. They've been rumored to want Kanter. Jazz could draft Kanter and then if Vesely is still there at #6, the teams swap draft rights with Utah getting Washington's 2nd round pick. Maybe cut a deal with Cleveland. They take Willaims at #1, Minny trades out of the #2 pick (team "X" selects Irving). Utah then trades the #3 to Cleveland so they can pick up Knight. Utah takes Vesely at #4 - if they value him over Kanter and gets Cleveland's 2nd-round pick.

Why would that indicate Knight is their guy? Kanter is working out Thurs/Fri. Maybe they just need to confirm what they saw from him in Chicago. Basically if he passes the interview and checks out as advertised in their drills, Kanter will be their man.

Good question. I'm skeptical, too. But if you consider the key headache in your conference over the next 10 years to be Durant, you maybe have to think about whether Vesely could match up. Still, I'd probably be shocked and disappointed with Vesely at 3. The apparently mediocre offense and defense trumps the highlights and motor, I would think.
