2011 draft.....

I think Barnes will end up like Luol Deng or Allan Houston.

I think D. Williams will end up like Carmello, only more fierce and with less range. He can overpower some of the SFs and blow by some of the combo forwards. I think SF can be a natural position for him, like it is for Ron Artest. There might be a small, remote chance that he busts and ends up like Al Thornton, but I doubt it given that he's too offensively gifted and efficient. He played under a lot of pressure today.

You know Williams is going for the highest single-season 3-pt shooting percentage in NCAA history, right? He's shooting 60% on a solid number of attempts.

Yes, and he's only 19. I just seem him as more of a slow, methodical distance shooter, rather than having a quick high and confident release like Carmello. He shoots his 'J' a bit like Ron Artest. Also, I'm not sure if he really has NBA range. He could probably develop it though. What I like is his aggressiveness and relentlessness. He's also explosive and has great footwork. He's a great athlete that can just outwork people. He's going to be a force in the league and get to the line a lot.

Looking at the top picks again:

Irving,
Dwill2,
Barnes,
Kanter,
Vesely,

Sullinger,
Valanciunas,
Perry Jones,
Terrence Jones

I don't know what order but these may be the top 9 picks.
I want one of the first 5 to drop to 6.
Or the Jazz to sneak into the top 5.

(Barnes and Marvin Williams) are very, very different players. Barnes is a natural SF in the NBA. He has a lot to learn but he has a natural position.

I really don't understand why people would think Barnes is like Marvin Williams. He already shoots much better and is much more of a natural wing. John Henson, though, reminds me a lot of Brendan Wright.

The way you listed them is probably the worse case scenario for the Jazz if they stay at #6 or 7

Sullinger: Good prospect but another undersized PF would be horrible for the Jazz, we already have a peaked version of him called Paul Millsap.
Valanciunas: Suffers from "euroitis", which afflicts most 7 footers over there and despite his length and talent, will not be ready for several years due to his light weight.
Perry Jones: A true physical specimen but very raw, risky pick.

Derrick Williams has a nasty spin move. He nearly lost them that game with missed free throws (maybe because of all that tape on his elbow from the fall?). He also missed a big wide open three and (what should have been) that last offensive posesion on a bad post-up. Im glad he got a 2nd (or 3rd) chance to redeem himself and he eventually did.

Jan Vesley is like a young AK... so I probably wouldn't pick him just to avoid the nightmare all over again.

Maybe there won't be any superstars in this draft, but IMO, it isn't as weak as what everyone is saying (outside of star power). I think the Jazz can get a very good SF prospect at #6 (like a Barnes or Jones) and then pick up a backup PG or SG at #12 (Fredette, Knight, Burks). Also wouldn't be surpised to see KOC work a deal with that 2nd pick.

I think the three the Jazz would want and hope would be available with their first pick would be, in no order, Irving, Williams, Barnes. I think Sullinger and P. Jones will be drafted before #6.

So if those five go, who you pick? Kanter? If Kanter goes before six, Williams or Barnes should be available. T. Jones?

A very dynamic draft. Top ten picks are in so much more flux than any draft I remember.

Remember how we were all teased for years and years by AK's unrealized potential. Maybe in Vesely it will be realized.

Yeah, probably.

Yeah, anyone can fall to the Jazz. I hope I'm not getting my hopes up that someone actually will.
