What's new

2011 draft.....

We need to draft a top-flight Point Guard with our New Jersey pick. In my opinion, we have found four out of our five starters (SG: Hayward; SF: Millsap, PF: Favors; C: Jefferson). We just need to find our starting point guard and we are golden. We now have the type of team that can compete with AND beat the Lakers. If we get the #1 pick in the draft - which is very possible, by the way - we might just finally have the team that gets us our NBA championship. The Jazz NEED to target our point guard of the future with the NJ pick. With our second lottery pick, we need to simply draft the best player available to us at the spot.

At PG all you need is someone as good as Derek Fisher. If you can get a Rondo with a later pick great.

I'm done with getting geeked about PGs. Don't spend a top 10 pick on one.

Still draft BPA. If it's a PG, then so be it.

I know draft guys feel Derrick Williams is a four in the league, but man, I like the idea of him on this team starting at small forward.

I'm not sold on Millsap at the 3. You can get away with it against a player like Artest, but Millsap shouldn't be sitting outside. He won't take anyone off the dribble. I still think he should revert back to his 6th man role. Come in and dominate the subs instead of struggling against bigger PF's. He could still be a 16/10 player and have a bigger impact heading up the 2nd unit.

I do think Honzward is our starting SG next season. But that doesn't mean the Jazz shouldn't draft a wing. AK is likely gone, CJ has a season left (if the Jazz pick up his option). Behind them are Bell and Evans. That's terrible depth. Jazz need to find a starting SF. If not with he #6, then maybe package the #12 + Miles + the GS pick. Or trade the rights to whoever we pick at #6 if it nets Utah a very good veteran (a la Jefferson). There are several ways to go. Okur's contract can even be dealt if a high-salaried SF is on the trading block.

This. Millsap played well tonight, but we have to remember it was against Artest. Artest is big, old and slow. I like Millsap, I really do, but he is not a starting SF in the league. Let him come off the bench as a veteran presence that can score. And we do need depth on the wings, obviously Kyle Weaver isn't the answer ;).....I still think that Hamilton would be a good starting SF for us. He just fits our system. And I also agree with BPA, if Kanter was there when we pick I would be ecstatic if we take him. A front court of Kanter and Favors would be amazing and we could trade Jefferson for a good, proven, veteran PG.

Come on Sacramento catch the nets! Sacramento Kings wins 22 losses 54 vs. New Jersey Nets 23 wins vs. 53 losses. Man I would like to get the 5th pick.

Sacramento is sitting in 5th right? So if they really really.. really really want to keep the 5th pick (i.e., Brandon Knight), wouldn't they just keep losing? Why bother trying to win??

Am i missing something?

Get ****ing real. You can afford to have a Steve Kerr/Derek Fisher when you have Michael Jordan/Kobe Bryant. Or Tim Duncan and David Robinson or Ginobili/Parker at the same time. Do you see anyone of that calibre or in that mold in this draft? If you say you do, you're lying or star-eyed and dreaming.

Irving is both BPA and fills our greatest position of need (ballhandler/creator for others that can use possessions efficiently, a total prodigy, and leader). Williams is the only other player in this draft that plays an efficient game against good competition and shows the grit and fundamentals necessary to win. The rest of the field is a crap-shoot.

Looks a bit like Carmello Anthony, who is big enough to play PF, but has the speed and skill to play at SF

Irving's going #1 or #2 at the least. We can argue about spending a top 10 pick on a PG after the Jazz get one of those picks.
I don't think Knight is good enough for a top 10 pick.

It looks like there will be a lot of good pg's and sg's in next years draft. We will probably have 2 lottery picks next year. I say go after Kanter, Perry Jones, and next year draft both a sg and pg. I would love to get Marshall next year as are point of the future.
