Getting ready to say he just turned 19. Probably never been in a serious lifting program. As you noted main issue is contract. Higher he is picked though means the more likely he will have the dough to make a buyout.

Biedrens is soft, slow and stiff, and he has almost no offense. He's an okay rebounder and avg. defender for his size/length, and that's about it.

For a 7 footer i would not call Biedrins sloe or stiff, but yeah he is very limited offensively. Perhaps a new coach will help him out.

Not sure I would give Perkins all that much credit. Boston did quite well without him the first half of the season.
 
When I picture the future of I want the Jazz to look like, I picture a defensive minded team with shooting. I basically picture us being a more team oriented Thunder with our "star" being the PF instead of SF. Athletic defensive minded bigs who can challenge shots and finish around the rim. Athletic guards who can drive and shoot. I just don't see how Kanter fits into that image with all his uncertainties.
 
I have been meditating in my Borim Temple (the bath tub) over the last hour.

It all became VERY clear. There is very little chance we take anyone else @3 other than Kanter.
Like it or not that is who we are taking. We may move down if A. the chance presents itself, and B. if KOC really loves Knight or someone else that much.
If we add another draft pick, and move down that is a viable good option I can live with.

If we stay at 3 Kanter is the best player available, and it's not that close.

We get our PG @12, or via FA. Now, we have plently of beastly bigs to deal with. Teams will never get a break from our rebounding offensive force that is
Big Al, Sap, Favors, Memo, and Kanter. We make the playoffs, and get the #8 pick next year from GS to add another stud. Malone comes in to work with the big men. If goes so well he is added to the staff. Headbands are allowed. Favors becomes an All-Star. The Jazz are an elite team the season after next.

Also Biedrins shot sub 50% from the foul line and never has cared to improve. Jonas shoots 75% and according to the DX article on him, worked very hard to make it that way.

While that sounds fine and dandy in theory..... Who is the role player? Who is the go to guy? Who is going to do the dirty work? I think roles like that have to be defined in the NBA to succeed. Tyson Chandler knows Dirk is the man who scores, he is out there to board and play D. Noah knows Boozer is the offensive guy down low, he is there to clean up and play D. You can't have a bunch of guys who go out there and do similar things.
 
I think KOC and Ty are already hinting that they want to go PG in the draft. I think they have Knight in their cross hairs. KOC has said things like "I hope the player doesn't get pressure thinking he has to replace Deron". I don't think Knight is a top 3 pick. This may be the only time in franchise history we have the opportunity to pick the #1 center in the draft. I think we should go big with Kanter and the best pg available at 12.

Have you seen Valanciunas play a game? I have, and it was not pretty. He was guarding people a few inches shorter than him, and they routinely scored on him. On top of that I've seen his so called highlights and even those made him look like a poor man's Koufos. I know I'm probably being hard on the kid and maybe he'll be a decent player in the league. But I see his ceiling being much, much lower than Kanter's

Why is he the 4th overall ranked prospect by what is considered the #1 Draft website?
