2011 draft.....

I like Kanter more than I did earlier when all the draft talk started getting bigger, but there is still something that just says bust to me about him.

Say the Jazz fall in love with Biyombo whenever they see him in Europe, they strongly believe he will not be available at #12, would you guys be really mad if the Jazz drafted Biyombo at #3?

I would think they could trade down to get him but if he wows the Jazz brass he'll probably wow other brass as well and might need to be taken at the 3rd pick. But this isn't happening anyway. There's stuff to like about Bismack but there's also reason to be hesitant - at least at 3 when they have other options.

NOTHING screams Biyombo at 3. Nothing. LOVE him at 12, though.

I agree, the problem is Biyombo probably will not be there at #12, also one huge reason why I brought up the idea is draftexpress who covers international players much more than anyone else has Bismack #3 on their big board. The Jazz have said over and over again that they will take the best player available at #3, not according to draftexpress that would be Biyombo. A front-court of Biyombo, Favors, and Millsap or Jefferson sounds very appealing to me, it will be interesting to see what the Jazz think about Biyombo after scouting and having him workout for them in Europe when they go up there to see a lot of the international players. If the Jazz take Bismack at #3 I would trust them because they are only going to take him there if they truly believe he was the best player available meaning he is better than Knight and Kanter.

If he busts, it's because he moves slower than other NBA players. That said, I think he's still going to be a good rebounder and inside scoring option. He and Favors could be a dominant front court to wear other teams down.

I think the two most likely scenarios are Kanter at 3 and Jimmer at 12 or Knight at 3 with Singleton at 12.

The first our Rotation would be

Harris/Fredette
Hayward/Bell/Fredette
CJ/Millsap/ AK?
Favors/Millsap
Jefferson/Kanter/ Memo?

This roster is unbalance with too many bigs. So either Millsap is becoming a SF or you need to make a trade a big for wing.

The second scenario the rotation is

Harris/Knight
Hayward/Bell/Knight
CJ/Singleton
Favors/Millsap
Jefferson/Favors/ Memo?

I've been leaning off of the bandwagon anyway. This just pushed me off. And I'm looking for reasons to trim my draft board down anyway. That's not to say if a guy runs a 4.4, or whatever the NBA equivalent, I won't factor that in - but I've mostly been influenced by posters on here who have seen Singleton play all year long, and their evaluation was that they were underwhelmed. Then I have to factor in what I think of that poster's assessment - which y'know, after reading a few posts on here it's not hard to figure out who's informed and who's talking out of their ***. Anyway, I've been feeling like there was a wave of Singleton love on here and I even got caught up in it, -- it was cool to like Singleton. But the Singleton crowd kept citing his defense and admitting he had little else to his game other than hope that he'd eventually be good offensively. Anyway, people on the forum that claim to have watched him play all year said not to get too excited about him, and then Morris schools him in this workout so it casts doubt on the one thing that was most lauded about him, so yada yada yada I have reason to trim my draft board.

This fully supports my theory that you have never watched any player you bash ehhmm, knight. And that you look at player comparisons on nba draft net to influence your decision. Btw.. Did you notice nbadraft.net. Changed knight to jrue holiday as the best comparison. I bet you will never be able to resist him now. Oh wait they say marshall wil be mark jackson so lets just wait till next year.

Really? I projected Knight to be like Jrue Holiday awhile ago. Hmm, even if it's from nbadarft.net it's nice to get a little validation.

You have a theory on me, huh? Thanks for the contribution to my narcissistic supply. You could just ask me, I'm not hiding the fact that I haven't seen many of these guys play (just highlights). And I believe I said I've never seen Singleton play a game. Again, just highlights, - which is why I need to absorb all the conflicting opinions on him and weigh the arguments against each other, against his stats, against the highlight footage, against his performance at the combine and in private workouts, etc. It's much more difficult than having actually seen him play in a game, but the draft is in June and he's not playing a game before then so I'll just have to do the best with what I've got access to.

But Knight is one I actually have seen play - which is why I, who has a rep as a "flip flopper," am pretty concrete when it comes to Knight. I think he's a nice player, certainly clutch, but I was never all that impressed with his running of the Kentucky offense. He merely looked like a decent PG, not elite IMO. I'd prefer to wait for something better or something that wouldn't cost a top 5 pick. But I do think Jrue Holiday is a good comparison, and I like Holiday so I like Knight -but just not with the 3rd pick. And the Jazz aren't gonna get Knight unless they take him there, which again I consider a waste of a high pick.

That's my assessment. How do I make it up to you?

Sheesh - I get grief for changing my mind on players, and then I get grief for not changing my mind on players. I'm gonna cry.

I definitely will sport a Biyomboner if he's there at #12. And then kill myself when the Jazz draft Jo Bro.

Heat being in the Finals led me to research them a little bit more, and I found that Wade was ruled ineligible for his freshman year in college. He came back strong in his 2nd and 3rd years in college and we all know where he is now in the NBA. That eases the thought of drafting Kanter for me a little bit.
