If I was CLE, the draft would have been #1 Williams, #4 JV/Kanter. On the odd chance those two go, I get Irving anyways.

IMO Cleveland took a big swing assuming Irving is going to be a great player. IMO JV and Kanter are good bets and the Cavs would have been much better served taking Williams who has actually done something. I am probably in the minority but IMO Williams is better than Irving.

I can put another bet that Williams will never come close to irving's level
 
I know when Cleveland picked Tristan Thompson I was giggled with excitement cause it meant somebody I didn't expect was slipping to 12 and there was two somebody's Burks and Leonard.

As far as Jonas he may end up being a very good player who knows and good for the kid for having a good U19 tourny but his performance will not change my opinion of the Jazz' pick of Kanter. He was rated as the best big man in this draft and had already put up good (or maybe better numbers) then Jonas is doing right now when Kanter participated 2yrs ago.

Now in 3-4yrs if Jonas ends up being a better player it will suck and I'll wish the Jazz had picked him but I wont hold it against them as again most everybody/everything I read had Kanter rated higher and the Jazz had been scouting Kanter since KOC went to UK after he was ruled ineligible during the last NBA season.

"North Carolina had four players say no (Harrison Barnes, Reggie Bullock P.J. Hairston and James Michael McAdoo), as did Kentucky (Anthony Davis, Mike Kidd-Gilchrist, Terrence Jones and Marquis Teague). Duke had three (Quinn Cook, Austin Rivers and Josh Hairston). Big men with NBA futures such as Ohio State's Jared Sullinger, UCLA's Josh Smith, Memphis' Adonis Thomas and high-schooler Andre Drummond also passed."

This doesn't necessarily answer why, just that they decided to pass. I would personally guess because it wouldn't help their draft stock in any way really. They're already very highly touted and it's their college season that will determine if their draft stock rises or falls. Could this push someone up five to ten spots? Sure. But if their subsequent college season is mediocre, this tournament means nothing.
 
I can't speak to the other teams, but I heard that Calipari asked the players to put more emphasis on getting on campus, getting a jump start on school work, getting to know one another better, and hitting the weight room .. over traveling around to play exhibition games. Side Note::: UK's strength and conditioning coach (Rock Oliver), has put 10 pounds on Anthony Davis in the first 30 days on campus, as well as 7 onto Gilchrist.

Loved Padgett at UK, he was a badass warrior night in and night out ... but never thought he'd find himself playing in the NBA.
 
Assuming you're referring to Jeff Shepherd. Obviously loved Jeff too. He played on two Nat'l Champ teams and was F4 MVP for the '98 title run. Overachiever and always taking, and hitting, the big shots. Yep.

Country pride? It's sad when we get beat by Russia. We should be dominating every tournament every year.
