Why was the bolded RJ not in red?
Is that a sign or a message or something?

Lol, This whole "let's have a token bad starter so there's not a problem with touches" thing is like creating a terrible solution to a problem that might not even exist.
I would definitely like Burks to start. I mean, he never has! And now we're not going to do it because it maybe, just maybe, will create a problem with touches?
then he'll finish games-- which players typically value more than starting. What if he's a good defender / complimentary player?
What if we sub out Hayward first and give Burks more of a feature?
What if... who the hell knows what happens because we've never done it. And now we're gonna stop ourselves from trying it because there's a chance it doesn't work re: touches? What if it does work and there isn't a problem? Overthinking 101.
I think you're overemphasizing the "6th man" effect.
And forgetting how ****ed Hayward's overall minutes were thanks to the 6th man assignment. He averaged less minutes per game last year than the year before.
Gonna take most NBA coaches' opinion on the matter over yours.
Yet his stats were better. Hmm. Interesting. Is it perhaps because he had more of a stamp on the offense when playing with the second unit?
Surely that can't be it.
I thought the whole plan this year was to have the fun tank not the cant watch this **** tank

I expect one of those from Gobert, they're about the same height aren't they?
Eaton is taller but Gobert has a higher standing reach I think.
To me the whole "touches" arguement is lame.
Kanter favors hayward and burks will all get more touches than they ever have before this year so its nothing to worry about.
Remember bigal is gone and we are suppossedly going with the youth this season so I don't think anybody will be complaining about touches if burks starts all damn year
Nice cop out.
LOL. Or is it because he was a third year player, boosted by his experience starting for much of the previous year?
Sorry dala, but I agree with this.
This years SHOULD be lots of fun regardless of wins and losses.
If corbin starts jeffy or marvin or plays those guys lots of minutes then the fun diminishes AND we probably still don't win any more games than we would just playing the youth big minutes
Not a cop-out. Just telling you that most people who do basketball for a living would think that your "6th men aren't a big deal" argument is foolish at best.
Of course that had something to do with it. But what I'm SAYING is that clearly him accepting a role off the bench did not stunt his game in any sense. In fact, some could definitely argue that playing with that second unit as their main offensive option made him a better player.
And when you consider the alternative (spending an entire season doing post entry passes, and camping on the three point line after Al gets doubled) then it makes even more sense.
"I can do this all day".
This isn't about minutes dude. Marv is gonna get his 20-24 regardless.
Would you rather have him get it at the expense of Burks playing third fiddle (at best)? Or does it seem like a better idea to give Burks the reigns of the bench, and continue to grow his playmaking, and facilitating skills?
The choice is quite obvious IMO.
