What's new

2014 College Football

They are also 1 dropped pass and 1 of 2 dropped INT's away from 8-0.

Pretty sure most teams can say the same thing about their losses. One INT here one TD there...

The truth is, the utes have the worst QB in the conference and it's preventing them from competing for a pac 12 championship. You don't usually have a NFL RB, top defense, and physical o line like the utes have this year. Booker is probably the best RB they've had and orchard will probably go down as the #1 sacker in the school's history. The Utes should be 8-0... But because they have a an avg QB from the WAC, they're sitting with 2 losses.

It's seems like the CFB playoff rankings are partially based on the following weeks matchups.

This week #6 will be playing #7 and #9 will play #10

Thompson's only a Jr. too, right? That's 2 Srs that you would have to chuck out of the way to start seeing what those other guys have in games.

That might just be what you have to do. Honestly, if you were the Utah coach would you want a repeat of QB play that you got this year next year or would you want to go with another option in the hope that you can develop that player? I would go with the latter.

lol

If that happened to anyone in the SEC all we would hear is crying and whining.

The only team behind them that has good enough wins that you could make a solid argument for is Arizona but they lost to UCLA so UCLA earns the spot over them for now and Utah beat UCLA. There were other teams that lost games last week that kept them at 17. For instance Georgia losing by 18 to Florida having previously beaten only 1 team that is still in the rankings, clemson, definitely helped the Utes.

The Utes are also only down a total of 4 points in their losses and no team has scored 30 on them yet. I'm sure that helps. Whatever anyone says about Utah this year they have at least kept themselves "in" every game. I'm excited to see how the D handles Oregon this week.

2 things:

- There's years upon years of case history of SEC schools being coddled in the polls, so yes, people would be bitching about it.

- They dropped in the media and coaches poll. They only stayed the same in the new playoff rankings that are basically ran by a think tank and are in it's second week of existence. We don't now what's "normal" for these rankings. Maybe over the years, we'll see the committee reward teams that have good showings on the road against other highly rated teams.
