Lol you didn't even take a complete sentence and even cut out 'strength' from the term 'schedule strength'

Burks burks Burks Burks Burks Burks burks
You said you were not talking about schedules.

But in your post I quoted you talked about scheduling teams like kent state

Seemed odd.
No big deal though.

And by the way lazy..... of course talking about schedules should be part of the discussion

If not then marshall should have a shot at the playoffs

I'll bring this up since we are all thinking about it... I think BYU is going to be given a chance to join in the next 2 years. Whether or not they pull the trigger remains to be seen. I think many involved in the athletic programs would bend on BYU TV to join a conference. Bronco has made his opinion on getting into a conference clear. But I'm not sure if those above him feel so strongly.

Interesting times.

I hope for the sake of sports in this state that BYU joins the Big 12. How great would it be to have USC play up at Rice and Texas play down in Provo? Huge for fans, restaurants and other local businesses, and great for the overall perception of our state.

I think the Big 12 expands but I think BYU overplayed their hand a couple of years ago and this time around the Big 12 will tell them "thanks, but no thanks". They could snag the likes of Boise and Colorado State and not even have to worry about dealing with Sunday play or whether or not BYU will "bend" on BYUtv. Seriously, why is it worth it to the Big 12 to deal with those headaches? BYU is not their only option.

I said I wasn't talking about 'schedule strength' in a post that was a different one than the one you quoted which discusses schedule construction.

Not a big deal doe

If Marshall was a better team they'd have a shot.

Clearly, you guys can't understand what I'm saying. I'm neither agreeing or disagreeing with you, just trying to get you to view things from a more general perspective.

I see your perspective (just look and know how a good team is somehow)
But I think schedule strength is important.

@lazy, sorry if it seems like im trolling you or giving you a hard time

I actually think we kind of agree on the whole conference championship thing.

I would have put tcu in over ohio state despite ohio state winning a conference championship game (though after the WAY ohio state won, I would probably put them in..... if it was not such a blowout win then I would have tcu ahead of osu)

I would put put tcu in over florida state too. I don't think they are that good.

But here is the thing..... it doesn't matter what you, me, ugli, or anyone else would do. It only matters what the committee does. And they have clearly stated, and shown, that conference championship games weigh more heavily in their decisions than almost anything else.

As for your comment about marshall just needing to be a better team to get in the discussion..... I don't agree with that at all.
I think they could go undefeated and win every game by 60+ points and they still would not get in.

No, you don't. My POV is that the committee picks who they believe to be the best four teams. This POV has been mocked and the more popular POV that winning a conference championship game is a prerequisite for participating in the playoff has been supported.

Colorado State just lost their head coach. They'll now go back to being even more irrelevant than ever before.
You may be right about BYU overplaying their hand last time around. But I don't think so (maybe that's my homerism). BYU is the only team not tied to a conference (they won't have to pay a huge exit fee) looking to get into a conference.

If Marshall was one of the best 4 teams they'd have to be in, in theory, at least. So you don't think the committee follows their guidelines of selecting the four best teams? That's interesting.
