2016-17 Hype Train Playoff Chase!!!

Last night's recap.

Blazers lost! So did the wolves.

Lakers won

Tonight's games:

Pelicans @ Magic
Mavs @ Celtics
Rockets @ Thunder (win win)
Warriors @ Raptors
Suns @ Nuggets (I see neither as a threat and don't detest the Suns)
Grizzlies @ Clippers (Clippers I guess)
Spurs @ Kings (Spurs are human, finish them!)

Well the Rockets and Clippers lost last night. Along with the Mavs, Nuggets, Kings, Suns and Pelicans.

The Spurs, Warriors and Thunder won. I think 3-8 could be very interesting this year.

Looks like a slobber knocker is shapping up in the west. The Jazz, Rockets, Lakers, Thunder, Blazers and Grizzlies are all within a 1/2 game of each other.

Tonight's games:

Blazers @ Rockets (win win)
Sixers @ Wolves
Bulls @ Jazz - My buddy will be right behind the Bulls bench tonight. Ugh!!!!

Last night was crap. The Jazz played like crap and lost another game they should have won. Exum looked good as an individual player but he does not run a team. Not yet anyways. Jazz should be 10-3 right now, not 7-6. The Charlotte, Memphis and Chicago games all should have been Ws. "Should have beens" don't get you crap.

Blazers lost, Wolves and Rockets won.

So, the last couple of games have sucked, hard. Hayward can't shoot, Hill, Favors, Diaw, Hood and Burks have all missed time.

But the Jazz got 2 days rest and are going into a home heavy stretch of the season. They will right this ship and get into the 4th spot. I believe.

Tonight's games:

Blazers @ Knicks
Pelicans @ Hawks
Bulls @ Nuggets
Thunder @ Lakers (Win win)

Took a quick look at the splits.

for those of you blaming the jazz's ineptitude on lack of rest, they are 3-1 (.75) on back to backs, and 4-6 (.40) with rest.

The jazz are terribly inconsistent, something discouraging and could result in spotty playoff performance. They win big (avg +13.2) and lose big (avg -9.9), which means they are either really hot, or really not, and don't seem to have a way to get wins when shots aren't falling.

While looking at splits, the most concerning thing is this --- the Jazz are 1-7 (0.125) against playoff teams. If that trend holds, the playoffs will not be a fun endeavor (if we get there).

I was kind of bummed with the lot of games before the last one. Like most teams, we are a ****ty team when we don't have our best players on the court. Injuries have absolutely killed the Utah Jazz. I have no doubt that with all players healthy, the Jazz can be a formidable team.

Thankfully Hayward an Hill are almost full strength and playing. Jazz have an easy schedule coming up. They should rack up the wins and that'll give Favors and Burks time to heal.

Good research. But could you research one more thing for me? What is the jazz record with Hill, Gobert, and Hayward all playing together?

Looking at the standings I think the teams that are in the top 8 in the west are the teams that will make the playoffs. Looking at point differential, which is a better determining factor of how teams will do than their record, Jazz have the 4th best in the west. I think if we can stay at least as healthy as we are now we will rise up to the 4th or 5th seed. If we get all the way healthy we will be a 4 seed for sure and have a chance to get into top 3.

Alright!!! A long over due update!! (Sorry, not sorry. Was busy with Thanksgiving, Friendsgiving and my birthday)

Hill is back!. The Hill/Hayward combo looks to be deadly. Not many teams will be able to handle that IMO. For example the #2 team in the east the Hawks. I'm not sure we even left them able to walk after that shellacking.

Last night's scores:

Clippers and Blazers lost!! So did the Pelicans and Suns but eh, whatever.

Rockets, Lakers, Mavs, Kings and Nuggets won.

Tonight's games!:

Kings @ Wizards
Thunder @ Knicks
Hornets @ Grizzlies
Jazz @ Timberwolves
Hawks @ Warriors

If the bolded teams win that moves the Jazz back into 6th. Also the Clippers are coming back to earth a little.
