If Rondo doesn't get hurt, Celts could have easily gotten bumped in the first round. Hayward isn't dumb. He isn't leaving the most dominant big man in the league to play with the most dominant midget in the league.
Maybe. I'm down and out with Trey, but he's entitled to a slump season. If he comes out and hasnt improved next year he's in trouble.
The only real potential I see from him is offensively. Which would help. A stretch big off the bench isn't a bad thing to have.
Exum has to play, and we need to make a commitment with him and playing time. Others were allowed to come in a grow, Hood, and make mistakes.
Exum's leash is too short.
He's got a lot more skill potential than Lyles. His size, passing ability, and speed are all there for us to develop.
I think Quin's biggest mistake was going with Mack in this run. Exum is the future, and Mack was never going to be the difference or help us win any big games.
Players have to get better if they want to play. The Jazz are past the point of handing out minutes just because you got picked in the lottery.
If there is anything that should happen tonight, I think we should try to play Favors/Gobert together for some minutes. I know Favors isnt healthy, but he is healthier than just getting 8 minutes and we need to get him going to win a game.
He did improve in the second half of the season.
He shot the ball from 3 a little better, that's about it. He needs vast improvement, not on the margins.
No..... Jazz are past the point of trotting out the same players ONLY to get the same results.
Jazz need to look for a better formula with Golden State and Cleveland and Houston and San Antonio than what their trying to win with NOW.
Jazz at the beginning of the season were more than just a 6 man team that they've become now.So it's defeating the purpose of getting better by tightening the rotation for closing out the season by losing in the same fashion of slow against speed.

Rockets just announced Nene is done for the playoffs. The dominoes continue to fall in the warriors favor..
Nene would be hard to play against the Warriors. Harrell is potentially the better option for Green at center lineups.

Whatever they do, the Jazz need to be able to have a healthy team with better starters ready for their next playoff appearance. Utah has been forced to start Joe Ingles (3 times), Shelvin Mack (2 times), Joe Johnson (2 times) and Boris Diaw (once) against the best collection of All Star players on a single roster in the modern era.
Is it any surprise then, that the Jazz have been outscored 87-53 in the first quarters of the three games in this series? Interestingly enough. . . the Jazz have played them DEAD EVEN the rest of the way. Once the game is going and substitutions start, the players and coaches seem to do better overall.
Both teams are exactly 236-236 for the other 9 quarters of play. Jazz 73, 89, 74 vs. Warriors 79, 82, 75. The Warriors are front runners, and having to start the games with guys that should be headlining the bench consistently puts the Jazz in a hole that they can't dig out of.
There's a lot of reasons to be optimistic about how the young Jazz roster is playing in their first major playoff experience. . . but they need more firepower and better health to take the next step. I have faith that DL will chase a star and keep Hayward. I also have faith that Jingles, Exum and Hood will all be better this time next year (provided they're healthy.)

Exum shot the ball from three much better. 27% to 34% is a pretty decent jump. His time was limited and not many shots but obviously he has shot the 3 well in the playoffs so far. His offensive rating went from 101 to 107 and net rating also went up the same amount because his defensive rating stayed the same. However defense is easily the area he most improved in. He had a rough go defensively the first half until he started to actually get back to full strength post all-star. That should continue to improve and he should be all the way recovered from the ACL injury next year. Exum improved his PER almost every month this season including the playoffs. His +/- along with many other advanced stats swung positive post all-star that were negative before. That one went from -1.2 to +5.4. His rebounding rate and numbers went way up post all-star probably due to getting his explosiveness back. He drew fouls at a much higher rate(76% higher) post all-star. He improved getting fouls drawn to the point that he was drawing 20% of the teams fouls when on the court post all-star. Some of these stats correlate with his increased usage post all-star. Post all-star he also played less time with Hayward, Gobert and Inlges who are all the players he plays best with. Ingles and Hayward assist him way more than anyone else on the Jazz so his increased numbers are even more impressive. Exum didnt dunk the ball pre-all star and had 11 post all-star and made 9 of those. Exum is much better when he isnt just standing in the corner and gets a chance to run the play which shows in his stats of being one of our better pick and roll players and iso players. There are plenty of reasons to be high about Exum going forward. I am surprised he didnt get more playing time. Expecially this last game. Mack played okay and I dont think Exum should have got more minutes than Mack but he should have got 10-20 min every game Hill is out and probably about 10 minutes every game depending on how he plays. I dont know what Snyders plan is with him but for now I am disappointed but still hopeful that Snyder has a plan for him and a reason for how he plays Exum.

But bigger info is that the team went from him hurting them on the court to him helping them when on the court. That is a huge swing in impact. Regardless of what other stats might say he was not helping us the first half win and he was the second half. Also im not taking the time to format and edit what I type from my phone, sorry but not really.
Because he was a massive **** to the Jazz. He cost a couple spots in seeding for being a selfish dickhead that put his own stats and 3 point record as priority over the team winning. That is not someone you re-sign. I am not sure why people liked him so much after the fact. That was one of the most selfish things I have seen a player do on the court, especially that he admitted to.
Selfish or not he was a good player with a cheap contract. Just look at his career after the Jazz.

and on the flipside the Jazz need to find improvement / and or better surrounding players to take the next step ??? Surely part of that is taking the raw talent available and generating improvement, part of which is playing time ? Fair enough not this season and to expect a big improvement from Lyles and Exum through offseason work, but i would think next season or two there is a little leeway for that in playing time ?
