What's new

2016 NBA Season Notes/Info

No matter who you start with Casey at helm Raptors have no chance to go past 2 round and maybe even first round. He is probably one of the worst head coaches in NBA right now. He was good as defensive assistant under Carlisle, as a head coach he is absolute terrible. Some people just don't have it.

He already coached them to the conference finals last year and took the NBA champs to a Game 6. I am not saying the get that far this year but I would not say they 0 chance of doing what they did last year. Especially with this move and DeRozan and Lowry playing better.

MVP doesnt watch games so he probably has no idea what they did in teh playoffs.

Yes but it kinda depends on how hard Ibaka will play. He can make a lot of difference for them if he plays like himself.

I post, therefore I am.

I dont really view Ibaka as a guy who plays hard. His value is pretty much his ability to space the floor and provide some rim protection. Pretty sure he was oft criticized for being soft/passive with OKC.

In his final few, yes. But Ibaka was always a game changer when he wanted to. His presence defensively accompanied with his shooting ability can help them imo, but if he keeps the "I'm a charity guy now, just playing it for the commercial side of it" attitude, expect another trade next year.

? Yeah, he can be a game changer, but it's not going to be through playing hard or providing "toughness" it's going to be through hitting his open shots and block some shots here and there.

I heard you the first time. I just don't agree with you that he is a softie - or has to be one.

I was talking about this year. Last year it was Valanciunas who was playing out of his mind until he got injured ( He was easily the best center in playoffs in the East). Take JV out and Raptors lose to Indiana in first round. Both DeRozan and Lowry did not play well in playoffs until middle of Miami series.

Well for that to happen Casey needs to change his play book which has only two plays: 1. Lowry iso. 2. DeRozan iso. Doubt Ibaka will be very happy/motivated to play. For example you can clearly see Carroll suffering in Toronto moving from free flowing pass happy Atlanta offense to iso happy Raptors. I am afraid Ibaka won't really like it there and will move on during summer.

Here is this gem about Casey made by some Raptors fan

The 76ers pulled Jahlil Okafor from their lineup last week b/c a deal w/Portland for the center was close to happening, per league sources.

The Blazers, however, decided instead to do a trade w/Denver for Jusuf Nurkic & a 2017 first-round pick, giving Portland three 2017 firsts.

This was true.

Lotta photos of Russ with Hayward.

Kinda surprising. Didn't think those cats would be friends.

His style is already rubbing off on him.

And it makes a lot of sense they would be friends. Westbrook is pretty quiet and low-key (off court), not a party guy and is married.
