2017 Exit Interviews

I can understand Exum's frustration, but if it's directed at the team, it's misguided.

Obviously he's not where anyone would have hoped, the ACL tear in Year 2 was basically worst possible timing. And frankly, he sucked for a good part of the season - Quin was absolutely justified playing Neto or Mack over him at time. Hopefully when he takes a step back after the season he'll realize that.

Mack is gone, and Neto is the 3rd PG next season, so next year will be Dante's time. I hope he gets at least 28mpg, regardless of whether or not George is back. i think he'll be ready to take the leap.

How was it justified I wonder?
Clearly getting sweeped in the 2nd round wasn't worth sacrificing Dante's development? Unless of course there were two priorities at play:

1) convincing Hayward that the team can win now
2) Jazz have lowered their expectations for X

What I don't get, is that you spend three years trying to get Exum then you don't develop him. That is what is crazy. That being said, I've been told that he is a head case and don't be surprised if the Jazz try to move him this summer.

Define 'head case'....

Nuts?
Anxious?
In his own head all the time?

14 pages on this?

- Hill, Ingles and Hayward had positive interviews because they are unrestricted free agents.

- Joe was positive because he has a good expiring contract with playing time on a playoff team and doesnt want Utah to just dump him for salary relief.

- Exum and Hood gave uneven interviews because they are still under contract and either played poorly or didnt get enough playing time this postseason.

- The shocker is Lyles. He was incredibly humble for a guy who had the right to be upset. Diaw was awful in the 2nd round, Favors was hurt and he got zero meaningful time. If anybody should be applauded for his interview, it should be Lyles who everybody on here bashes.

Exum didnt earn more playing time for playing better. That is a probably what bothered him. He got pulled for minor mistakes that other players were making and not getting pulled for. He greatly improved the second half of the season while Mack and Neto stayed the same or got worse and his playing time didn't go up. Exum played well in the playoffs when he got a chance and he could have helped us more but he didn't get playing time.

I'm sure he is frustrated but at this point I just have to hope Snyder has a good long term plan for developing him and a reason he didn't play him as much as he deserved or needed.

I don't think Dante not playing much in 3 games vs. GSW was that detrimental to his development. And no competitive playoff team should sacrifice its best chance of winning to develop a guy who clearly isn't ready yet during the playoffs. The team is trying to win and it sends a bad message to the critical vets that you're trying to re-sign this offseaso.

After watching the Hood interview, I am going to apologize to Hood for jumping the gun on his starter comments.

He was just responding to a direct comment, and I have no problem with what he said. He believes he's a starter in the NBA and he wasn't really saying anything other than he believes in himself. Nothing wrong with that. Kind of a loaded question, where most guys will say something like "whatever coach wants or whatever the team needs" blah blah blah. He just answered the question honestly that he believes he's a starter, and it didn't sound like complaining at all to me.

Watching Exum's interview, I found that I ignored just about everything he said, and focused on counting how many times he said 'you know'.. If he scored as much as he says 'you know', he'd be an all star.

It was almost like I knew what he was going to say because I knew he knew I knew..you know ?

Lol, I just watched the Exum interview, and let me just say, y'all are a bunch a morons.

Exum admitted to some frustration, but more importantly, said he understood that it comes with the territory as a professional athlete.

If anything, I thought he just felt a little awkward being the center of attention or being in front of the camera. People making mountains out of molehills around here. It's as if they expect him to say he loves riding the bench and watching Neto play because it's so much fun. SMH
