What's new

2018-2019 NBA Season

Hahaha what a dumb trade for Sixers. They already regressed by losing most of their shooters and now giving away Covington and Saric for Butler? My oh my this one is bad...

[Charania] Minnesota has traded Jimmy Butler and Justin Patton to Philadelphia for Robert, Covington, Dario Saric and a 2022 second-round draft pick, league sources tell me and @JonKrawczynski.

I like this trade for both teams.

Sixers struggled so far this year, never seemed to be in the right groove. Now they have their 3rd All Stars and have a pretty good chance at winning the East this year and also keeping Butler IMO with Embiid and Simmons in that team if all goes well.

TWolves gets 2 quality hard working Thibodeau type starters and now they can focus on getting to the playoffs. Covington is a no nonsense player and is probably the best defensive player they've had for a long time. Saric is a clear improvement over Gibson and can spread the floor.

Both teams got better which is a good sign.

How much help does Ben need?

I like Dario a lot. He started slow but I think he was big for their chemistry. Jimmy, BS, Embiid doesn’t sound like a fun locker room. Fair deal for both sides.

This is something to take note of... they had planned to be players in FA... missed on big targets and now decided it best to do this type of deal. This could be what happens with our space if we miss out on guys.

Butler plays a lot with the ball. Simmons cant play off the ball. Embiid is already the 3rd highest usage player in the NBA. Embiid and Simmons are both very very high touches per game. They are the 2nd highest combo behind CP3 and Harden. Its not a great fit but I am sure it will be good if they all get along and play hard. They have now lost 5 of their top 3 point shooters from last year. RoCo, Illyasova, Saric, Belinelli, and Bayless were their top 3 point shooter along with Redick who is still there and McConnell who hardly plays.

Their starting lineup shooting 3 point percentage this season going forward: 0%, 34.2%, 37%, and 30.2%. I dont know who their PF will be maybe Chandler who is shooting decent from 3 so far at 40% but that will come down. Butler is now their best 3 point shooting starter.
